love my EXP II
Had mine for two weeks now. Stealthy! Best Rolex all around sport watch, IMHO.

Agreed! The comfort is unparalleled too. It isn't at all in your face. Modest. If that can be said of any Rolly.

I thought I chimed in on this already but didn't...this review made me contemplate something other than the BLNR...after reading this I decided I was going to take a look at one the next time I visited an AD.
After seeing the two...there was no question! A little under a month later and I was an owner! |

Super review! Thank you. I have an Explorer I 39mm and love it, but the Explorer II has a special appeal. While I like the black version, I've been somewhat troubled by the visibility of silver hands on a black face in the Exp I, and two Ball watches--a Worldtimer and Red Letter GMT. The lume shows white of course but the silver portion of the hands grays out agains the black dial unless you angle your wrist so the light reflects off of them. Is this an issue with the black Exp II as well?

New to the forum just want to get some feed back. I've got a sub lv 7 years old and thinking of trading it in for an explorer 2 42 mm black I have a 6 and a half inch wrist quite small will I be able to get away with the size of the watch or do you think it is down grading a little bit to the sub I have now??? Thanks

Hi, I am going to get the Explorer II (216570) but just wondering where would be a good place to buy this between Frankfurt airport & Greece (Athens, Myokonos, Santorini). Can anyone advise which is a better place to buy the Explorer II?

Finally bought it @ Poniros in Santorini. It was the cheapest there after working out the tax rebate (comparing Singapore, Frankfurt, Athens & Santorini)....

A great Watch indeed!!
Mine is black and always on my wrist now. At first, I am so fixed on the GMT master ii, but when I put it on my wrist, I just lose my keen willingness to buy it. Not that it isn't beautiful, but I just feel that it lacked something. The dial is just a little bit too small compare to the thickness of the watch, so the thickness is more pronounced. Everything is just a little bit too more or too less, but well... and the lady took out this Explorer ii, so I put it on my wrist, wow, this is it!! It perfectly sit on my wrist. Everything just right! I can't put any other word more than Just Right! It is not the most elegant, it is not the most distinctive, it is not the ... But it is the most "right" one for Me. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6J...it?usp=sharing Own an Omega Seamaster 300, for 9years and still very accurate at -1 sec/day So I am looking for another watch which adds GMT function. I am through the Montblant, Nomos, Hamilton etc. But didn't have a "Stop" until this RL. Wish I didn't buy those in-between and straight to this one earlier. |

Great review, far better than anything watchtime ever turns out. Just picked up a new 216570 white and couldn't agree more. One additional point, though on the Exp ii, and this isn't to diminish the appeal of the ss sub, which I love and once owned, but it is a bit disheartening to walk into a yacht club or a networking event only to discover a dozen ss subs littered throughout the place as if they're standard issue. A great, iconic watch, yes, but rolex served the world well when they updated the exp ii in white and spawned an instant classic that lies in sharp contrast to the sub/deepsea/GMT family of ubiquitous black-on-black sports watches.

Thank you Moosbrok. I'm glad you liked the review and I couldn't agree more on the Sub.

I own a white 40mm and was at the AD the other day and looked at their 42mm. I found it kind of cartoon-like.

I also have the black dial Explorer 2 42mm. Good review and a few thoughts from me.
Had the watch for the last 3 months and it hasn't left my wrist apart from few occasions. It is my daily watch and I love it more and more each day. I belive it is probably one of the most under the radar Rolex. Nobody notices it! Functionality is great. I am used to have a date function and I am a fan of the cyclop; the GMT is great for someone like me who travels to 2-3 different countries every month. It took me a while to get the right size for the bracelet. I ended up removing 1 link, moved the micro adjusment to the first setting and I am using the small extension as the wrist size changes from cold to hot, on a daily basis. I'm based in Middle East! For me, Explorer 2 is a keeper! |
