Most so called rare modern day Rolex are mostly internet hyped, these so called rare models mostly live in the internet hyped collector head or the various sellers or ADs touting for a sale.

This is just a list of the most popular what I would call rare and collectible Rolex/Tudor watches there are many many more.

Model 6429 Steel Oyster Commando.
Any early 1930s- 40s Rolex Prince.
Any of the old Rolex chronographs 6236 etc
COMEX Submariner or SD
Early cushion case bubblebacks.
Model 6202 Turn-O-Graph.
Any true Rolex Military marked Submariner like say 5510.
Single Red double red Subs SD.
Early Rolex Kew A class Oyster chronometers.
Any of the left hand wind Rolex watches Subs or Datejust.
Any early vintage Milguass watches, but not the modern day Milguass.
Rare early GMTs.
Vintage orange hand Explorers
Early 1960s Explorer dates like the Airkings TT versions are very rare
Daytona 6239 6263/5 etc.
Early Rolex watches made only for Canadian market
1939-45 military watches
Rolex Turtle Timer
Rolex Airking dates with the roulette date wheels
Rolex Date and Triple date with Moonphase.
Rolex Viceroy.
Rolex Tudor military subs.
Any Rolex sports watch with say a Sultans emblem.
Cartier/Tiffany branded Rolex watches.
Panama Canal special Rolex subs.
Rolex Tudor Monte Carlo Chronograph ref 7159
Rolex Tudor ranger alarm.
Most early Rolex subs.6200/6536/6205/5/6538/5512/3.
First Oyster quartz 5100 Beta 21 movement.
Agreed with above poster, awesome list!

I have both, bought from my AD. If you are planning on going grey market route, I much prefer the Hulk over the newer Submariner. For me, the Hulk, which is smaller in the wrist, seems to be a bit less lighter and not as heavy on the wrist. I know, it doesn’t really make sense since the newer submariner is 41 mm. I almost always prefer wearing the newer design.

Oh, for what it’s worth, I was told by my AD that they get much less ‘green’ than black ones (thus, I have a black one, but I can honestly say that I like the black more anyway).

Secondly, AD said that they actually get similar numbers of Batman and Pepsis, but that the Pepsi is just much more in demand/requested by buyers.

With this logic, the 124060 is a rare watch, which of course, it is not.

Did your AD allow you to keep the shipping “box”?

How rare is a 126610LV?

Rare? Call a respected grey dealer. They probably have 10 of them on the side and if they don’t, they have access to plenty

Hard to get from an AD- yes

I tried but no. SHe put it in the garbage. Its not the same shipping box that you usually see. Its like a disposable plastic that crush easily. Still wanted to keep but she said no even the stickers that she took off. And the way she took the sticker triggers me because she uses her long nails to catch the edge of the sticker.

Thanks. Yea, I just bought a Batman and noticed the new box, my AD always gave me the plastic box with all my new Rolex purchases. This one he was Adamant about throwing it away.

Haha. That's one of the reasons why I always ask my SA if I can remove the stickers myself at the store. And my SA is a gent! But in all seriousness, I actually enjoy the process very much. Like unwrapping 20 presents Christmas morning!

And my new AD just recently was able to get me one, and im thrilled with it, already scuffed up the clasp a bit.

Of course I absolutely love it, I’m just curious as to the numbers of green ones delivered vs black ones.

The only thing rare is the honesty that your dealer should practice more often.

The watch is not rare at all. Not at all!!!

Pics of the outerknown? Love that reference. Shame it’s not available in 42 as it would have saved me a ton over the pam 683 I just got haha.

The LV is more rare than a black sub but in grand scheme not rare. Just way more buyers than supply even if supply is 10,000 a year.

to those that say it's not rare:
put your name down on the list at your AD,
and see you next year :)

It’s rare at an AD and not rare at all on the grey market.

It’s worth remembering that while the product is almost identical (Rolex watches), there are two distinct markets which behave differently as a result of the artificial price constraints imposed on ADs.

It’s a mass produced watch so I don’t think ‘rare’ is the proper term. It is however hard to get at msrp. Here is what I posted in another thread as was told to me at my AD by their Rolex rep who noticed I had one on:

Quote:
I had it on at the AD the other day and their Rolex rep happened to be there and I chatted with him for a bit. He noticed my watch and told me that when they were producing the 116610LV they made approximately 1 LV for every 5 LN’s. He said with the 126610LV they are 1 LV for every 10 LN’s. Said it is going to be a much more limited piece than the 116610LV was.
Is this true? Nobody knows but Rolex HQ.

When you just start out as a collector, you think Rolex is rare or "special"

The only "rare" ones are vintage or more hardcore gemsets.

126610LV is absolutely not limited edition. The dealer is limiting you from getting it though. lol.

I waited 3 weeks on the LV and 4 months on the Sub. Both at MSRP. It was said the LV isn't rare on the Grey market. They are readily available for $6-10K above MSRP...
