Exactly. We’ve gotten to a strange point where we’re denying one of the most valuable things about the Rolex brand: serviceability in perpetuity. It’s quite an advantage to be able to be able to get new parts for decades. In fact, even Porsche has followed suit with their classic parts program.

I did pretty much the same thing a few months ago; still got a Tudor Black Bay Bronze but could get back in the Rolex game by winning a Sky-Dweller

Of course you can’t, but it is a landmark piece of the Rolex collection. Transitional, anniversary, discontinued model of the iconic Sub. It will get rarer with time. Thus the price will go up.

Unless money was an issue there’s no way I could have parted with those watches. I would’ve just bought the Tudor and hung on to the other three even if I rarely if ever wore them.

Do you have to pay long term capital gain taxes on the gain on the LV where you are?

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner 16610LV

I still kept a couple of watches but have just bought this from my AD. Happy with my decision as have had years of enjoyment from the sold watches.
I sold mine as well. I wanted another one but after 2 years and no luck between dealers I gave up. I am now looking for another Spring Drive and the one I have runs super.

I think Dan did fine. If all enthusiasts did nothing but collect, there would be nothing for enthusiasts to collect. Think vintage... Someone has to sell dad's watch.

Sold My Rolex Watches

Enjoy! I think you missed the height of the market by a few months, but you likely did pretty well.

In the UK, these watches (Submariner LV) have not dipped since March. Just been steadily climbing since I bought it 7 years ago.

Wow. That’s crazy.

Admit I didn’t read the whole thread yet. Had to respond to this, because this is crazy town talk.

Shockingly judgemental too.

So a while has passed since I sold my Rolex watches and I find it interesting to look back at the posts on this thread. My first observation is that I have not once, regretted selling my Rolex watches. Every day I look forward to putting on one of my Tudors, and get enormous pleasure from wearing each of them (I still think they are the best looking dive watches out there). I did not have that same enjoyment from any of the watches I sold. Don't get me wrong, I still love Rolex watches and at some point in the future I will buy another. I also still love logging onto TRF every day and remain very happy that Tudor & Rolex are still on the same Sub-Forum. Long may not it continue.

Dan

No regrets because you thought it thru, made the move, and continue to thoroughly enjoy this hobby via your stunning Tudor lineup. The results of your well thought out plan.
