Be honest OP, how tempted are you to reply: "Then why aren't you on your knees then?"

I had two jabroni's say this last week.
A few additional thoughts to add to what our esteemed TRF members have said:
1) You are not an AD, you are an employee of the AD. There is a difference.
2) If I can't get around you as a customer and build a relationship with the real decision-maker, owner or manager, then shame on me.
3) See #1 & #2

Venting on the internet is par for the course. I’m sure the OP is all rainbows in real life, otherwise he wouldn’t still be working at that AD (or he’s too early in his tenure at the AD to get let go).

Also not strange for an employee to say this. Most likely a newer employee, and likely not with a great manager.

Scotty?! Is that you? Again? This is your mother. Why don’t you stop trolling these nice people and come downstairs for breakfast before you’re late for the school bus? I made your eggs and bacon into a smiley face and put whipped cream on your pancakes, just how you like them. Also, don’t forget to put your algebra homework in your backpack. Ms. Jones told me she knows we don’t have a dog, so she’s on to your excuses.

What if that's what the person really wants... A Daytona or a GMT? You said be nice and honest.

I am confused... So they are supposed to lie and say they want something they don't in order to save your feelings? Not saying they will get it, but they're not supposed to tell you?

In “our” (the people) defense….maybe not in your case, as I’m assuming you’re very knowledgeable?…a lot of WIS folks know a whole lot more about these watches than the SA’s. I’ve witnessed it and experienced it first hand.

I laugh as well….thinking I’d actually build a relationship based on being nice for the sake of being nice , kissing a**, etc…to a person I could give two &@$*%# about, or building a relationship with, for an item I might get in 1,2,3, …years. Any relationship I build is because I like the person personally, not to obtain an object.
Now let me tell you how I laugh when an AD thinks, I will spend extra money on something I don’t want to POSSIBLY get something I do want. Seriously…? I’ll take the extra money and buy the new watch I want from the trusted sellers I deal with, and have it in 24-48 hrs.

That’s just me though…everyone has their own preferences in life. I certainly wouldn’t want to be doing your particular job (Rolex SA) at this point, given what the Rolex volatility has been for 3+ years now. Enjoy the pampas, arrogant, know it all, crazy….”people”

I'm trying to imagine how a conversation would get abrasive enough that one has to say "I know how the game is played".

There are definitely rude and entitled people in the public (and possibly a disproportionate number of them in the Veblen goods market), but I can't imagine walking in as a willing-to-buy customer and steering the conversation that way myself...I've definitely been treated like dirt completely unwarranted by one AD when I was a serious buyer for a basic model, as have many others here, so maybe therein lies the answer.

When I was treated rudely however, I just thanked the sales guy for his time and I left, wasn't worth continuing a pointless conversation.

I'm guessing we won't see OP again.

How does one go about telling the AD that they’re tired of waiting for the game and went ahead and bought gray? Or do you even bother informing them?

I hear Burger King is hiring. Their customers are more transparent on what they want.

OP can chill out another few months and I’m thinking they could be asking the AD owner for discounts to move inventory.

Plot twist : OP works for an AD and is frustrated because he doesn't get allocated any cool pieces to sell so he comes on here to make himself feel better by getting us riled up.

Troll.

You think that's true? I can't imagine an AD would be forced to purchase watches they don't want in their inventory? I also don't think Rolex just allocates them watches and lets the AD pay them back when they sell.
I'm not trying to discredit you, I'm sincerely wondering.
