Excellent write up. I got mine two weeks ago. I just love it. It looks great with rubber too.

This is my first post.
I placed a deposit down on my first rolex which I convinced my wife to get for me for my 30th. I just couldn't go past the SubC. It is a thing of beauty. Because I have got the itch now and don't get it till November I am looking at vintage 5513 or 16800 transitional. I feel an expensive passion brewing... |

Your thoughtful post will influence my buying choices.. at day's end, though, with Rolex, I must try them on.. it's funny I thought I wanted a blue yachtmaster (I still do), until I tried on a submariner, 2015 blue dial, with 18K gold accents--I bought that watch on the spot as soon as I tried it on. In any case, my next buy will be a sub with no date.. it's such a simple watch, and yet elegant at the same time. I don't often see no-date SubCs.. or even 14060ms.. these watches are masterpieces in my opinion.
The tiebreaker, for me, is the new bracelet clasp vs the old. I love the new bracelets on the new(er) Rolexes.. vast improvement over the old.. I say this as I'm typing wearing a 1973 Air King(!), which I also love. |

hi Dave.
thankyou for the honest review comparing the Grand Seiko to the Rolex SubC. These are the two watches I'm thinking of purchasing this year and they are so different that I'm having trouble deciding between the two. Can i ask a quick question : How do u find the comfort of the SubC compared to the Grand Seiko. i appreciate the GS has less bulk so may wear more comfortably based on weight but in your anecdotal opinion when trying both on do u favour the comfort of one over the other ? or are they both amazing/comfortable in their own way ? |

OP, there is still life to this thread. Beautiful photography. You got the lighting just right to bring out the best in the sub.

Couldn`t agree more. You put words on my thoghts. I bought mine in the autumn 2013 and I have never had second thoughts about buying it.
If anything, I am more convinced today than when I pulled the trigger. It is perfect designwise and functionally, the complete timepiece in my opinion. I did a lot of research before buying it and when I saw pictures of it, I knew. One detail that made a big difference is the wider crown-guards compared to the 14060. |

I enjoyed that review, thank you very much, I am torn between the 114060 and the Sea Dweller, hence reading many reviews.
I also have a G Shock GW-5000 and the exact same GS. It may just be fate.

Nice review, couldn't agree more! 114060 is my first Rolex, might not be my last but you always remember your first!

This very nice review contributed to my recent decision to trade a PO Titanium for the Sub ND. I just received the Sub and it is flawless. Cheers!

Thanks I really enjoyed this review, beautifully done! I also share your profound feelings for this simple and beautiful rolex classic. And am so content with my new SubC too.

It is fun for me to see that this review, going on three years old, still continues to generate views and comments. It inspired me to compile a similarly minded review for the classic Explorer II, the "Polar" 16570:
A "softer side" review of the 16570 Polar Explorer II Enjoy! And Cheers. |
