As the new model GMTs were not increased in size, I would bet they keep the basic Sub line at 40mm. As stated, the trend is back to smaller watches. The SD at 43mm fills the large watch person's needs.

Watch size sure is a hot-button topic for some

At the mere mention of a slightly larger Sub, people are screaming about 60mm fashion watches, supposed trends, comedic videos, etc.

42mm has been a pretty standard sport watch size for many years - hardly 'oversized' or 'trendy'. And as with other products, many watch manufacturers have introduced additional size options (both larger and smaller) to simply offer more choice. Rolex are not going to do anything drastic to the Sub. Perhaps they will up the Sub Date to 41/42mm and leave the Sub ND at 40mm, or maybe they'll doing nothing for a long time. The Sub and SD were the same size for years, so I don't see the current Sub and SD being made closer in size as a problem.

Its only to small if you have been stereo typed into thinking its to small, the sub is a perfect size at 40mm.And with the many many millions sold worldwide I would guess that the most of the public buyers are very happy at its present size..

I believe 80% of men have <7 wrists so going over 40 would be the dumbest thing they could do. Big guys can go exp2, skydweller, sd43 and jc. Second, the trend is back to normal sized watches, not bigger. Who knows do, they did mess up the skydweller and exp2 so anything is possible

Having a 9 inch wrist i’d like a DSSD without the thickness, I only do shallow recreational diving so absolutely no need for the depth, so yes basically a 44 Sub for me, my analogy is having a 4 wheel drive Range Rover that’s used for town driving they should offer a cheaper 2 wheel drive option.

That would be a bad move imo, but who knows what they're going to do in Geneva? Anyway, I thought the general trend nowadays is to move away from wearing dinner plates on the wrist. I don't want to mention brand names but there are some real shockers out there! I can wear 42mm, but 40mm is the sweet size for me personally!

Sub wears as big as my Omega PO 42mm - not as thick, but essentially the same. Sub certainly isn't too small unless you have like 9 inch wrists, so yeah, I see no need to increase it to 42, especially with the SD. That said, I can't fault anyone wanting or likely a larger watch. Really the people here who insult anyone who likes bigger watches are just as bad as the people who berate smaller models - just very narrow-minded approach.

40mm for the Sub is about where it needs to be. Look at the SD 43 if the Sub is too small for you.
