well, come Sept 1 we'll know if Thorpe is a fraud... or someone to tune into..

I'm keeping an open mind.... a concept lost on many.

My SA informed me that prices will go up on Sept 1 as well. I thought this was a country specific correction (JP), but maybe not. I was heavily urged to come to the store before then.

And buy what? they have stuff in stock?

Seems some AD's are more honest than others ... as quite a few have had it conformed while others have been stonewalled.

That’s untrue. ADs know several days in advance for admin purposes

Again this is literal nonsense, as thing he’s said only in the last few months are correct.

Is anything he claims about AD practices even remotely true? Sounds pretty far fetched.

Someone is keeping the SA out of the loop. My AD's SAs know at least a month in advance, two and a half months on one occasion. For all I know they have even more advanced notice than that.

Not knowing until the same day means nobody is telling him for some reason and he isn't seeing all the preparation that needs to happen prior too opening on the day of the new pricing. Odd.

I was at my AD on Friday.
It carries both Patek and Rolex.
For Patek the SA said the increase will be 8%, the highest they have seen.
He did not mention anything about Rolex.

I love a good price increase. There’s nothing like price increases, dying hype, and a recession all at once

Just from what I’ve read on this forum, most of what he announces is weeks after it’s public knowledge anyway - not hard to get that right.

I’m surprised he’s not waited until September 2nd to update everyone about a September 1st price increase

I'm reminded of the Ed Sheeran interview on Hodinkee where they talk about PP and how the Tiffany Nautilus doubled in price etc etc. Patek makes and sells watch for X then they see the secondary market prices. So why not go up in prices etc etc

Personally I agree with Hollie_Rollie. Timing is suspect IMO but whatev's. Not like I'm expecting any call to come in

In the end MSRP doesn't mean much
- In the "good old days" we expected a 10% discount from the AD, 15-20% discount from a Grey
- During the Hype period street price was 2-3x MSRP

Thus if the world economies get a whole lot worse we could expect deep discounts due to crashing demand. Rolex may not suffer that much but ADs/Greys will.

makes a huge one to Rolex's, and PP's (and others) bottom line...

Rolex has been leaving literally millions of dollars on the table for Gray dealers and Flipeprs to pocket due to under pricing their watches.

Was the Submariner always 10100 this year? I bought mine in 2021 and I think it was 9150.

I think the Greys are going to get squeezed on some models that have been outperforming traditional norms.

Well I was buying in those 'good ol days". Think I even have some receipts showing discounts but anyway. I tend to think we share some of the sentiments with A D's and Greys etc etc but MSRP is everything IMO.

Higher MSRP's will have an impact on Grey pricing. They pay more. Charge more. Or at least they will give it a try

Then from an A D standpoint after the last 4-6 years we will never ever see discounts ever again. Rolex A D's will continue to perpetuate demand is crazy and as high as ever no matter what's going on outside there building. Unemployment, recession, etc can be at all time highs but call your A D and you will still hear "yeah the list is a mile long" yada yada.
