1974 17ft montauk... we usually fish the S.F. Bay for sturgeon, stripers or halibut, but on a real FAC day we make a run out the Golden Gate for whatever bites.

The 17ft Montauk is such a great boat, built like a tank, you can go anywhere....

it sure can go anywhere. it's a rough ride but we were able to hang with my bros (early 80's) 22 outrage outside the gate... but we did have a slight case of montauk knees after

Here are a couple more pictures of the Ocean 42 and the Rolex. Just back from ten days of cruising with the family. I bought the Ocean more for cruising than fishing. A sportsfish gives you the option to get somewhere quick if you have to or just putt along if you don't need to.

The best boat is someone else's. Enjoy the romance of it without the bother.

Finally got a picture of the boat in motion. A friend had a camera with him as we were meeting at a favorite anchorage this summer. Here is it doing about 23kts. It has props on it now for about 26kts. When I had it propped to do 29, it was just too fast in gear at idle, as I don't have trolling valves. As it is now, it still does 6kt in gear at 600rpm.

My family and I have a 37' Egg Harbor and a 21' Edge Water center console. However, we are thinking of selling the Egg for a 26' Regulator.

50+ft 33ton capacity might not be fast but, can go far! Fish are caught one or two at a time depending on how many people you have pulling. Sorry it's not a sport pleasure boat it's only a poor mans work boat!
