I would cry if my watch looked like that. I walk around with left arm straight in air above head at all times.

you realize you risk getting hammered by a ceiling fan in certain situations? maybe just keep your hand in your lint-free, key-free pocket.

@JSolutions lay off the guy. Also, PMing someone to continue banter is ridiculous and rude. If you can't say it in the open forum don't say it at all.

@Jacksonrain that is a beautiful Sub and I would want to keep it pristine also

Absolutely, I thought that last night. A rather innocuous title, maybe with some nice pictures and some background stories and instead we get this.

Just to clarify I messaged the guy with a genuine enquiry if he has some sort of stuff you can put on the watch to protect it from scratches which I would of been interested in. He told me he wraps in some stuff used for bicycles or something to which I thought was a joke... think it was taken the wrong way.

Fair enough and I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

I came here for the comments. I was not disappointed! Seems like the OP's watch really brought out the emotions from certain people.

OP, I love your attitude towards your watch. You're probably fun at parties. Take care.

Now you are misrepresenting, and you told me "F U". Then, after I told you to stop, you came to chastise, commenting on my post and telling me that my watch is only missing helicopter tape. Please stop dude. Please move on

Everyone is different and we are not here to judge until asked, I myself wear my watches and enjoy them but not to the point that I would throw one into a cement mixer just for kicks, I just analyse a situation and decide if the watch is better off my wrist for that task ie working on a car engine etc.....Its not rocket science

I love it OP! Here’s mine. It hasn’t left my wrist since I bought it new 3 months ago. I think mine will look like yours in 2 years and that’s alright by me!

Sort of like tennis for old people, on a smaller court and different ball. I'm sure some would never play that with their Rolex, you know, something might happen to it.

Thanks I have been having interesting journeys with this; I've had this one for 3.5 years and it's been my most frequent daily driver. The crystal is actually perfect as none of the marks are really from high impact.

Looks great! I like seeing people get good use out of their purchases. None of us are making it out of this alive, I'd rather pass down a watch that my kid would remember me by, not something worth X amount of $ in the back of the safe.

It's like seeing a new Ford Raptor covered in dust with Nevada pinstriping down the sides with a load of gear and an empty cooler in the bed, vs some guy putting armor all on his Raptor's tires in the driveway. Why buy it if you're not going to use it?

I think it’s healthy to wear your Sub or whatever Rolex you own and not fret over scratches. Unfortunately, I have trouble with getting anything expensive scratched or chipped. Part of my issue with scratching a new Rolex is that historically I have purchased iconic models and like to keep the option open to sell. Now that I wear a subtle OP Date I don’t have the same issue. Same with my new UN San Marco; I don’t seem concerned. Neither are grails or iconic.

I swear this is what a young man's watch should look like. Then when you get on 20 years you have it polished and only wear it to formal events...lol

Me too. Rolex may be classified as luxury brand but the sub is so complex and far more interesting than the rest of the line. These watches are tanks!!

True, so why not buy a pre-loved model for less money? Your brand new one will scratch too if you wear it.

The submariner was intended for underwater diving. Yes, a fictitious James bond wears it but it's actual military history is profound. It's designed to endure the harshest of elements. It's not meant to be cottled; it's designed to majestically rise from ashes of the worst circumstances.

I bought a brand new 116613LB a few years ago, I wore it for 2 years straight and through 2 price increases and it ended up looking just like my watch in the OP - perhaps even worse with the soft gold.. When I was done with it I took it back the to local GreyD I purchased it from new and he gave me 100% of my money back.. a week later it was on display looking as good as new and marked up £1000.

What I'm saying is.. wear your watch, don't fear over getting it marked or scratched, it's only ever a polish away from looking it's best again if you want to resell.

I won't be selling mine though, it's special.. I 'got the call' on my birthday during a drought, so it has my name and birthday on the card and my wear all over it.
There is something very cool about having such an expensive, durable beater.

This actually looks pretty badass, and the condition of the lugs and bezel area look fairly decent. In another 10 years, this will be pretty awesome. I'm down with this patina on this reference.
