I’ve owned many watches. Most didn’t last a year through the hell I put them through. Almost at 3 yrs with my Rolex and although it needed service it’s because it wasn’t serviced for the prior 22-23 yrs.

It may not look like what most here call a “tool watch” but it fits the bill.

I bought my Rolex because it was heralded for its toughness, accuracy and ability to timelessly go through all sorts of lives without any thought. The men I looked up to wore their Rolex watches through whatever life threw at them, they weren’t the kind of guys worried about a scratch.

The ability to repair back to like brand new just solidifies this thinking in my head. I paid a fairly significant amount of money for something I wear on my wrist to tell time, it isn’t worth a dime if it won’t hold up through what I require it to.

Thanks for your post!!

Eh, if I cared what people thought I’d never be where I am today.

Most of them probably have no idea how to control their own lives so they try to control others.

Wear your watch as intended, it’s what you bought it for.

As for “I told you so” I am no means the definitive authority on wristwatch wearing or horology in general. I actually think I annoy the crap out of most of those guys. It doesn’t bother me though because I didn’t buy the watch for them or for their approval.

Thanks for the post, continue to wear the hell out of yours and enjoy it!!

Glad my post could help you in your decision. I think both are great watches but there is something about the blue that mesmerized me since the first time I saw it.

Impromptu 4:00 am breakfast sandwich at Cafe Risqué didn’t phase the watch. (First time ever stopping and I will not be going back)

Made it through a 1300 mile non stop road trip to Mobile, AL in a 25 yr old Ford without missing a beat. (I learned today it’s one of the most dangerous cities in the US). Didn’t have an issue.

Ineffective $40 car washes have no effect on it.

I’ve worn my 16753 in some very rare parts of the world! Never any bother with it at all — most people don’t even know what it is.

Curiously, I feel more twitchy about my 226570!

Both great watches!! Is your 16753 brown or black bezel?

I guess in a sense you could say that is my “beater”. I bought my watch to wear no matter what I’m doing, my Rolex fits the bill.

My entire point of this thread is-

These watches aren’t fragile, they don’t need to be babied. I have gotten so much more enjoyment wearing my watch than I think I could get from keeping it in a safe for 10 lifetimes.

YMMV.

Glad you enjoyed the thread!! I am not in Ocala, go through there often though.

5 digit references are my sweet spot. Hope you make lots of memories with and get much enjoyment from your 116613LB. Let’s see some pics!!

Totally fine for cucumber picking.

And for hanging around two of the many resident gators. The one on the bank is a pregnant female I believe so she will probably be having babies soon. Or she is just chunky.

Always present !!!
A breath of fresh air, so refreshing, thank you dear friend.

I contributed with my next watch, which will be my holy grail. I wish, like you, to write its history notwithstanding its price, its metal or the fact that a gshock would do the job!

Horse slobber is not the worst bodily fluid/function that could happen to it when around horses. Thankfully, I’ve got people that do the “stimulation”.
