The prices are absolutely ridiculous. And a $75k 5711 purchase should come with a mental health exam.

Nahhh, they want what they can't have until they find something close and can have it now.

Rolex PM's are moving because they're in-stock and when compared to the premium on SS pieces, roughly the same price (sometimes well cheaper)

Example: You can buy a 116503 for $16,900 (MSRP). I've been offered 2 in the last 6 weeks a black and a white dial.

Now, you compare this to a $26k 116500LN and it's a no-brainer. It's basically the same watch with more valuable metal!

For the most part, rich people aren't dumb. They can see value there and know that they're getting more bang for their buck on a piece that they can still call a Daytona, still pretend it's "hard to get" and has the look for a large discount to SS.

Many rich people are dumb. There are a lot of newly / quickly rich minted over the past couple years.

It's hard to quantify what "for the most part" equates to, so I won't even try. :)

Got me thinking.... would one prefer to be rich and dumb or smart and poor?

Funny but people complain when watch prices go up and then complain when they go down.

I starting voicing concern only when they went up unnaturally. Stable value appreciation is good. Bubble type behavior is bad.

For me, and only me... Smart and poor.

That's where I started. At least, I think I was a tiny bit smart. :)

It's easier to change the poor part if you're smart, but harder to stay rich if you're not.

I’ll take rich and dumb every time. I often wish I was an idiot. Seems like a less stressful existence.
