Finly,

Agree that they should focus on getting delivered the orders they have on-book first. It does feel a bit weird i have the Monochrome version as was reeeeeally looking forward to others' impressions too. Am truly am looking forward to others getting their Czapek timepiece and their impressions. Love mine, and it's been pretty much my daily 'beater' ever since she was delivered (which is impressive when you consider the depth of the collection here).

Love the Czapek Monochrome's great wrist balance, beautiful sound, and luxurious feel when manually winding it. Funny thing is, occasionally my wife 'mocks me' when she knows i'm going into my watchmaker room to change straps because the band doesn't match that day's attire.

Speaking of which, gtg as it has the black band on it and i should be wearing the white band today. :)

Czapek, think orange rubber strap, a nice orange (#f63a00H .. R 246 .. G 58 .. B 0).

Did they say what it is or just purely speculation?

Not enough finishing for me, but that is why the price is much lower than the Antarctique. Hoping sometime in the future Czapek revises the Quai des Bergues movement. But I'm sure that is 5+ years from now.
Well done Czapek! New Quai Des Bergues movement is a big improvement, and the revision came way faster than I thought

Czapek just announced a re-edition of its Quai des Bergues, in beautiful green or blue, this time with a home movement if I understand correctly.

https://czapek.com/product/emerald-green-l/

https://czapek.com/product/sapphire-blue-l/

5,000CHF deposit, no idea of the final price though.

Final pricing is CHF 18,000, you need to click the Show Price text. Looks great, and pretty please start delivering everything asap. Feels kinda lonely here.

The Antarctique continues to be one of my preferred all around timepieces. I took it on a trip to Hawaii (Big Island) and it was a fantastic companion. For the first time I noticed the screws were backing out a bit on the rubber strap deployant, so I swapped to the bracelet for the rest of the trip. Time for some Loctite.

These are wonderful watches. I believe the dials are flinque?

My pet peeve, and I know it's a design signature of this line, is the dual power reserve/day indicator. I'm not sure how that will work consistently, but it seems a bit odd to me.

Correct. Hand done enamel on top of a stamped dial. The loss ratio of the enamel would throw a lot of hand guilloche dials in the trash.

Pretty simple, you wind the watch fully on sunday and it reads Sunday 7, then Monday 6, Tuesday 5 etc... until it gets to Saturday 1 day reserve, and then you wind it again on Sunday.

If you pull it out of the safe on a Thursday, just wind it to Thursday and you're good.

8 day power reserve.

That part I understand, but it seems very restrictive for a watch power reserve/day function. Anyway, I get it.

So the power reserve is basically doing the math for you since the last wind rather than estimating remaining wind based on spring tightness or whatever? I always assumed a power reserve was based on the watch mechanics. Is that not normally true?

All power reserve indicators work based on the tension in the mainspring. Ours is no different.

Great video and great watch! I’m a sports watch guy so I still prefer the Antarctique…but I’m super impressed with the dials and movement upgrades on these!

Quai des Bergues with red dial....

Xavier hinted about it during a video this week.

I don't like it. I rather see Czapek stay a little smaller, more exlusivity and an icreased finishing quality. There are still rather big improvements to be made to the bracelet of the Antarctique in my opinion. Why bother scaling up this insane pace? Dollar signs every freaking where.

Probably because the investors figure they might as well attempt to meet demand. Part of the advantage of working with 3rd parties to make your watches is you can scale more easily provided those 3rd parties have the capacity.

I think one of the reasons people flocked to czapek and the Antarctique was that they were providing real customer service in a time that most other legacy competition had no time for newcomers. If czapek loses that advantage I’m not sure the magic is the same.

Will be interesting to see what they do next.

Look forward to seeing Czapek scale up production while continuing its efforts in achieving their vision to produce a fine and reliable timepiece. Imho nothing comes close at the ask, and love the movement design, dial, and bracelet / strap options.

Just pretty please Czapek, get deliveries going ASAP so more enthusiasts can see what i see.
