That is the perfect size for you - looks like the 39mm does on my wrist. I’m hoping Rolex start to offer it in 36mm and 41mm in the future.

Got very lucky with the new Explorer. I told my AD that’s the only watch I’m currently interested in (besides the Tiffany blue OP 36) and to my surprise I got the call within 6 days! I may just be in the honeymoon phase but I do get the feeling that this watch could be a collection killer.

Does it appear that the new explorer 36 is hard to get? Or do first time buyers seem to get it fairly easy?

Very happy boy. Can’t stop pinching myself:)

Walked in and enquired early doors Thursday (2days ago)
Got a phone call late on Friday (yesterday).
Collected the watch early on Saturday (this morning).

Seems to be the case. Think it’s a combo of two things:

1. Lower demand relative to other Pro models/colorful OP
2. It’s an enthusiast’s watch so it’s likely going to someone who will keep and appreciate it (so less need to evaluate buyer)

Net-net is that most calls are coming from people who really want the watch because of what it is (not what they saw on Instagram) and in this case, Rolex nailed supply/demand equation.

Cool side-by-side! Funny how proportionality works: I’d swear the new one has a wider diameter, but it’s just about case-to-bracelet width ratio.

Am I understanding that this is you arguing that first time buyers tend to get them? Or is it the other way around?

I'm saying that first-timers are able to get them relatively easily compared to other Rolexes.

While my purchase was based on a warm intro to the AD (rather than purchase history), another AD, with whom I have no relationship of any kind, called me back the day after mine did, offering one up.

Here’s mine. I’ve since sold my BLNR and White OP39. The new Explorer is perfectly proportioned. My wrist size is just under 7”

It is indeed .

With the proceeds from those sales, I think you owe yourself an OP, too (34 or 36) .
