Although the design cues are from the Zenith, it looks more modern. I like the new look, but the beefier crown guards and new case design (even with symmetrical lugs like white gold version) make my 116500 already feel more ‘vintage’, which I love.

I‘ll gladly keep what I have vs new one.

This new case is like no other. It's sharp edged and not rounded off on the sides from previous PM cases. Very excited to see one in flesh even if it is a exhibition model. A big change like this does make the outgoing model special indeed.

I agree - it does look more flat sided and sharp edged than the outgoing larger PM case style, but the overall lug design and case proportions are very similar.

Be interesting to see the real watches rather than the renders on the website.

New one looks a little nicer for sure but they really needed to bump up the size a little.

Thinner sub dial rings and thinner hour markers frees up some space for sure.

I’m very curious for the size. Based on some of the pictures and videos online I think the size has increased and might be a true 40mm now.

don't think so, actually it's now using the same OF daytona case.

Yes. The steel now has a similar lug shape as my 116509. You can see the turned down feet on the lugs now.

It must not be identical though as the first SEL doesn't protrude over the lug (as much).

Or the end links are different and now fit better

Different. Similar design but the sides are now flat.

The issue comes from: https://www.rolex.com/watches/new-wa...ograph-daytona

The render that you move around looks very flat on the sides.

Remember thats just digital renders.

Some of the images (like the TT above) show a more curved case.

Is your 116515LN still 39mm? even without the asymetrical lugs?

the new one might be a legit 40mm.

Crown protectors are bigger, just as they are on the outgoing PT/ER/WG/Oysterflex cases.

I think the metal ring around the bezel is a miss. On my speedmaster that metal ring gets dinged and look pretty bad.

Probably better that that the ceramic bezel chipped and need to change

Very few reported chipped Daytona ceramic bezels.

On the PM oysterflex Daytonas that outer bezel ring is going to get dented and chipped quite easily.

I can see from a design standpoint why its there (as a throwback to the bakalite bezel Daytonas)
