Rolex White Gold Day-Date--No factory Warranty
Gentleman and Ladies ( I think there are a few ladies here on this forum, so I don't want to be disrespectful by just saying Gentleman). I am a long time member, but haven't posted for quite some time. Here is the situation that I have: On a recent visit to Las Vegas, just days ago, I ran across a Rolex Day Date in White Gold, with a Silver Roman numeral dial at a Rolex AD. Salesperson says the watch is 25% off retail because it has been discontinued. Salesperson also said that they purchased the watch back from Rolex. Never heard of that before? I am thinking the silver dial with what appeared to be gold Roman numerals may have been discontinued? I asked if the watch came with the original Rolex warranty and was told that the original Rolex warranty did not come with the watch, only the in store warranty which is a 1 year warranty. I like the white gold Day Date models, but would prefer the silver stick dial. I was interested in the thoughts of the forum members on this on
this unusual situation? Thanks for your input. Bob |

The discount sounds fair and I prefer Roman's, so it all sounded good to me until you got to the warranty story. I'm not buying it and that sounds like a real turn off. Makes me think it's not actually BNIB.

Turn around, walk out and never go back there again.

If you want that piece I would contact DavidSW, that is around the kind of discount that probably you can get on a Day Date with full warranty.

1. Has the watch ever been sized? 2. 25% is decent, but I’ve personally gotten 30% off a new WG DD36 watch with full factory warranty. I would push for 35% or more with just the 1 yr store warranty (totally inadequate in my opinion) It’s true that watch is discontinued. The 118239 has the 3155 movement, while the new model now has the updated movement (3255) with 70-hour power reserve. New model also carries a full 5-yr warranty. Best of luck in your decision! |

There are a lot more available out there complete and with full set and warrany paperwork. I would walk from the proposed deal. Take your time look around....and get a really good deal.
