Hello all. Up for sale is a stunning 1990 ROLEX DateJust 16220. To many, this is a watch that combines the best of the vintage styling and the more modern tech all in one exquisite piece. The 162xx series was the last of the DJs with the narrower brushed lugs. This look appeared on the watch at its inception and remained largely unchanged until the introduction of the following 6-digit series watches which got significantly chunkier and flashier. However, while the 16220 did maintain the vintage look, it did have the more robust caliber 3135 movement and a sapphire crystal. All this created an ideal daily watch. Although the 16220 is not, itself, unusual, what makes this one so special is that gorgeous radiant slate gray dial. Not only is it a treat to admire, it also help tone down the dressy nature of a DateJust, allowing the watch to just as easily worn with a t-shirt as with a dress shirt. It it beating with a good amplitude just under 280 degrees, indicating no need for service anytime soon, and comes complete with a 62510H bracelet sizable to a 7.5in wrist.
