which chrono do you prefer

Would be great if you could give me some reasons WHY you prefer the 5070 or 5170

I know which one I would take but I'm biased ….
I made this poll because somebody asked me which one I prefer …. I am unable to give an unbiased answer because one of these two is just the perfect watch for me

So which one would you take and why ?

a few examples of the 5170

reference 5070

Even as owner of 5170G there is no comparison....5070 all day long in any metal! My biggest regret is parting with my 5070P :(

PS not a fan at all of the 5170J

Though, I know from several points, such as Lemania movement and future investment price. The 5070 would probably be the winner.

But for me, who is not a fan of Roman Numerals, I have voted for the 5170, as that are the options.

But given a wider choice, then I would go for the new L&S Datagraph

why not hunt for another one.
I know they are expensive but that won't change in the future …. on the contrary
You paid your 5970R for sure also more than it's list price back in 2006 or 2008

I've never seen the 5070 in the flesh. I have handled the 5170g a few times and based on my limited experience, I would chose the 5170. Based on looks, I don't like the wide stepped bezel of the 5070. The 5170 has a better proportioned dial/bezel, IMO. I also like the Breguet numerals better.

I tried on both and in my comparison the 5070 is on another level. I prefer the look and the shape of the case

Its hard to decide. 5070 if purely on looks and better resale. However, I tend to prefer inhouse movement.

First Patek I ever looked at was a 5070p....that blue dial was amazing. That saying I really like the new 5170G.

Depends on the metal for me. 5070p would be my first choice, no question. If the p was not an option I would go 5170g. I would then revert back to the 5070 in any metal.

I recently tried on a 5070R and 5170J, and I must say 5070 all the way for me. I love the larger size and also the details and balance of the dial on the 5070. I also really like the different levels of beveling of the bezel on the 5070.

There is more detail on the caseback of the 5170 which is a nice touch, but all in all, hands down 5070 for me after seeing both in person.

The 5070P is gorgeous, no question

But it is damn expensive, probably because this one is very rare.
But on the other hand, is it worth the same as a 5070R AND 5070G ?

Look at the 5970 …. a P will be more or less 30 till 40% % more expensive than J/R/G
When looking at the 5070P …. its 100% more than the other 5070's.

Precisely why I am leaning towards R also to go wth my 5970R which I chose over the P as love the sliver dial and warm RG case!!

Dato up/down platinum, the magic of Patek 5170 has vanished with all the low demand/supply issue.

Pay $91K for an Up Down and it is worth mid 50's the day you walk out the shop. Had one on last week and have to say was underwhelmed. I thought the original Dato Platinum was much nicer. I did own it though and didn't like proportions. It was small and thick and wore strangely IMHO. The 5070 on the other hand pure Patek Chrono perfection.

The old Dato has weird proportions, the new Dato has better proportions plus has a big date. In my eyes the Dato is always been the best Chrono, and the only reason we put it lower to the 5170 is because Patek has better Resale than Lange. But if both models are suffering in resale, I see no reason to go Patek in that case.
5070 is discontinued and therefore in a different category. But if I have the opportunity to buy a 5070 LNIB, in that case yes the Patek is a better buy . To each is own, and that's my humble opinion on the matter.

Actually Jorge believe it or not the 5170 also has awful resale value similar to Lange. The 5070 is the one with great collector demand and strong resale value.
