Icon20 The markets finally cooling down ??????

I don't know if its me but from what im seeing here in the Uk the Rolex market is slowing and prices have rolled back a touch , for example a friend of mine owns a large watch shop and they just bought in a new steel Pepsi from a customer for 12k and resold the watch for £12,500 , yes only £500 wages for them but quick turnaround , thats how they work , that said not long ago that watch would be over 14k he said and he's also had a black ceramic Daytona on his shelfs for weeks asking just over 15k and no takers , that watch sat there 6 weeks or more , may be the tide is changing ??????

There are 20 steel BLRO’s in the U.K. for sale on C24 and the cheapest one is £14350 with an average asking price of around £16k.

Sounds like somebody may have got a relative bargain. I’m very sceptical that it’s representative of the Rolex steel sports market in the U.K.

Well - Then your friend is overreacting compared to the market. Dont believe that we will see a dramatic slowdown in the short-term

Mmmm don’t agree. A good example is the hulk which was going for £11k new in March and now trading at nearly £15k with Watchfinder.

BLROs cooled down to 16k usd or so for a hot minute after New BLNR hit ADs, and promptly shot back up to 20k. Now back down to 18.5-19k. Perfectly normal to see fluctuations, by no means is this a market cool Down

So this reseller will pay me over 20k CAD for my Pepsi? That is my idea of a slowdown

I don’t think so. Everything I’m watching on Chrono24 is up. New BLRO is over $19k. New DaytonaC Black is just south of $25k.

I think it's just you.
The 126710BLNR is going for between £16-17k on C24 and I've seen the previous reference 116710BLNR going for £14.5k, not to mention 116610LV for around £13k, so no, the market is not cooling down.

The market, by which you mean the grey market, consists of people that are willing to pay over MSRP/RRP for (usually) a SS Rolex. It’s true that this grey madness could all stop right now if people stopped paying silly money. The ‘official’ Rolex market has plenty of watches on offer outside of 3-4 hot models. There are even rival brands that offer perfectly good alternatives which you can get at a discount!

I've been watching this whole conversation for a year or more. No ADs where I live but I made some calls and found a 214270 from an AD where I bought before and got it for less than MSRP and free shipping. Didn't ask about other styles though.

The Explorer isn’t one of the “hot” pieces to be fair.

Probably explains why I got a small discount but still cheaper than some of the "trusted sellers". Likely my last Rolex purchase.

Yes! I agree with you. These speculators should sell before their stash lose value. If they wait too long they won’t get the cut-throat prices that they want.

Man, it is around here. None in stores and waitlists of 4-6 months unless you have an established relationship with an AD.
