Hi and welcome!

You have come to the right place. I'll throw in what I can and there are others on here who likely can help.
There is a Jeweler Serpico y Laino in Caracas, Venezuela The words Serpico y Laino appear under the Rolex name on the dial so this is a Rolex sold by the watch company and similar to Tiffany's, Rolex had a deal for their name to appear.

Would have though it would have had a nice black or brown leather croc strap with a Rolex gold buckle

The watch came from my great uncle who lived in South America. My father said that he was told by his family that it was a gold band but i'd like to confirm that. I was thinking the same thing you were until he told me what they had said.

I agree with what Padi said... a leather strap with an embossed tang buckle. Your father may be right that it was on a gold bracelet, but my guess is it was an aftermarket bracelet.

Pre-oyster bracelets were made, but they were rare as hen's teeth. My reasonably vintaged educated guess is that it came from the factory with an OEM strap and an aftermarket bracelet was put on afterwards.

Well its a dress watch very like the Cellini range today, picture below of a 20 year old watch. If my memory
serves me well I believe there was a gold expanding bracelet, but not 100% sure.

Hi Ant,

Welcome to TRF. Go with what the guys said. Leather straps do look good on dress watches.
