International transaction
Hello TRF Friends
If you buy a vintage Rolex watch from a seller overseas(UK/Fance), do you have to pay some type of tax? Thanx for your feedback OO |

The answer is 100% yes.
You will owe 2 taxes - customs/duties tariff and for most states - a state use tax (basically a sales tax). The tariff is based on the value of the item. However, given the volume of packages coming in, many are not caught in the customs/duties and a "use tax" requires voluntary disclosure from you to your state's tax authorities. In California, technically all things bought by Californians from Amazon are subject to a use tax wherein there is a requirement to self declare and pay the state imposed sales tax. |
