As for watchwinders, if you wear the watch during the day, you should not NEED to put it on a winder. But will do no harm if you do. You can not overwind it.

If you don't wear your watch for a day or so, you may want to put it on the winder, just so you do not need to reset it. As for extra wear on the watch, not really anything to worry about.

Mark was 100% spot on!!

The winder is personal and only relevant if you have multiple autos. Otherwise you can actually play with the position at night to effect accuracy.

The pics is all about lighting and practice. It will get easier with those two things and a tripod and timer help out a bunch as well.

Welcome aboard, RankDog!

If you want to post pics, read the second part of this post: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=3003. Do take the time to read the first part too, though - it involves picture-posting etiquette.

The guys are spot on, RD. You really only want a winder if you have multiple autos. E.g., I've got 10 autos, all with complications. I also have a quad, a triple, and a single winder. If you count, that means I can keep 8 watches on the winders at a time. One is always on my wrist, except at night (but any auto will have sufficient power reserve to keep running through the night when it's resting), and one stays in the drawer. Clearly the ones with multiple complications (date/second or 24 hour time zones, moon phase, etc) stay on winders when they're not being worn.

As for taking pics, in addition to the thread James pointed you to, check out this site. It has a good tutorial.
