Thank Goodness

I was initially worried about what I was going to see coming out of Basel. I just purchased my GMTIIc a month ago and was scared I would see something I would want to take home. This is not the case. As most of the reactions on the forum have displayed, the BLUE on the Sub is NASTY and the (Nintendo) DS - Toywatch makes me estatic that my ceramic is on my wrist!

I wonder what Rolex will do regarding the availability of the Daytona and the GV? If the response to these watches are high, will they become the watch to get? If the take-rate is low, will they let out more Daytonas and GVs to boost sales?

Regardless, someone needs to backhand somebody at Rolex!

I noticed that over the past couple years, people have been skeptical or even negative about the release of new models right as they are revealed. This included the Sub LV, the ceramic GMT, and now probably the Deep Sea. Many of them say that they would rather prefer the "older" model over the one that was just released. Then eventually, the new models start to grow on people.

This is just a trend I've observed with many people and I forecast that it will be the same with the new Deep Sea. So don't worry, you're not the only one who feels this way.

Just give the new model some time, it may eventually grow on you, whio knows?

I agree. Eventually, we have to come to terms and accept what's new...otherwise we'd still be sitting in caves in the Stone Age!

I can see myself eventually accepting the SDDS...but not without a struggle! They had better NOT discontinue the SD!

Unless

We don't HAVE to accept the new designs! There are plenty of SWISS watch manufacturers. If I am forcing myself to choose a less appealing Rolex, just because it is a Rolex, I will swap to another brand!

I guess I PARTIALLY agree with both points. Some new Rolexes (Milgauss, GMT IIC) I like, others I don't (WG Sub, RG Daytona, CLOWNMASTER II). It'll just make it easier for me to choose a nice Rolex!

I went through a similar phase with BMW's designs. I liked pretty much every pre-Bangle BMW. Now, I just ignore the 5 and 7 series and concentrate on the 3!

Well, I understand your point.

Just wondering though, how did you feel about the SS GMT ceramic that you currently own? Did the design grow on eventually you and led you to purchase it or did you love it the very first time you saw it?

Gmtii

I actually was not aware that they updated the design until a few months before I bought one. I loved it right out of the gate!

My first impression of the watch is that the design is nice. However, pictures of the new watch are not enough for me to say that I "like" it. I still have to feel the watch and handle it with my own hands and try it on before I can say that I like the watch.

But I agree with you, I like the design.

That's great, if that's the case, then you made an excellent purchase with the new GMT-C. I also own a Longines like you and must say that it is an excellent watch as they compliment each other well.

I really want an all blue SS sub. I'm currently looking for a Blue Tudor Sub. I'm hoping the pictures that come out later will be a little bluer, but I still like it. It would be perfect without the maxi dial. Oh well!

Is that Blue SS Sub seen in Basel done in WG or SS? Does anybody know the details at this time?

I guess

I believe it is WG. That is what 99% of the posts have read. No one has addressed what they believe these new watches will do to the limited number of Daytonas and GVs.

Amen, brother!

I do not like any of the new designs at all. They will not grow on me.

Well,I have nothing against new or updated models, but my heart is a heart of traditionalist!I would never go for new Deep Sea over the DJ or DD from the 1980.`s or 1990.`s.Those old watches was much classier than the new ones...
