TSA commented on my watch

I travel pretty frequently for work (12-18 times a year) and use to travel every other week for a few years and have never run into a TSA person who said anything about a watch before. Last night traveling back from Seattle, the guy at the scanner said "Nice watch. Can I ask what it is?" I was taken by surprise by it but loved it. He was wearing a Quartz Seiko chronograph. I asked if he was into watches and he said he was but can't afford a nice one yet, but is saving in hopes of being able to buy one some day.

I was wearing my Breitling Avenger Blackbird and must admit that out of my collection, I was surprised this is the one that got noticed in public. It's the least flashy of higher end watches, except maybe for the Omega SM300.

Thanks guys. I'm wondering if it's the size that caught his attention since its 48mm. It's a titanium and fabric strap so it's really lightweight (115g) and curved lugs make it wear well.

Nice looking piece. I love the texturing on the dial & the matte effect of the bezel. :-)

Not usually into Breitlings but that one is a looker. The matte dial is gorgeous.

yes, they are trying to make sure people don't loose them. Hopfully that's what your comment meant.

TSA gets allot of tough comments.. I wouldn't want to do their job and I always try to be polite and respectful to them. They have the unfortunate task of dealing with some of the worst in our society on a regular basis..You also need to understand many once where in the military and are veterans.

Thanks for all the compliments! It's my second Breitling and I tend to like the more subdued styling versions - my other is and Aerospace.

Is it actually 48mm?

Yeah...shocking right? I don't have a huge wrist - 7.25 inches. Yet it fits so well. The curved lugs hug the wrist, the fabric strap conforms to the wrist and holds the watch in place well and at 115g total weight, it doesn't want to move around much.

Here are a few more shots from the day I got it. Hadn't taken the plastic off yet.

It's really well designed! The cad, dial, strap it all fits so well together.
Definitely doesn't look huge like a 48 would suggest ( especially for a breitling)
May have to see if I can find and try one on!
Beautiful

Yeah, I have to admit, the first time I tried it on I had no idea it was 48mm, just liked the look. It wears better than my old 45mm Helson Sharkdiver which was 45mm but much thicker. Chip (SLRDude) has also tried it in many times and feels it fits well.
