Epic fail with butchering the Daytona line. I am in disbelief Rolex could make so many design screw-ups their most perfect watch.

Oh man that metal edge around the bezel is a huge issue for collecting dings and wear marks. IMO….it adds nothing and becomes a liability.
The biggest “fail” is the beautiful organic case lines have been butchered into a now blocky supercase look? ??
A blocky Daytona?

The 11 series Daytona has now become incredibly special and “THE” SS Daytona.

Wow this comes off as quite a sour post, attempting to guard the prestige of the model you own.

I also own the 116500 but don't see the new model as a complete mess up, but I'm also not trying to defend my asset.

Seriously?? I am not gushing so now I am guarding the 11 series. This is huge Daytona news/change. I am being kind compared to what you will be reading and viewing the next few days.

Welcome to the forum. In time you will understand how ridiculous that opinion is of my post and intentions regarding my forum activities and reputation.

Gushing? According to what you've put in writing above you believe the new Daytona to be a complete disaster, but the 11 series is now the ultimate classic representation. It just sounds like you're trying to frame a special narrative around the watch you own.

I've been here since 2012, cheers

I absolutely believe Rolex unnecessary tweeted the model in all the wrong areas. That is MY opinion. Considering how long the 11 series Daytona has been left unchanged, it is huge news with these changes. The 11 series Daytona doesn’t need a “special narrative” its design and 4130 movement earned its reputation and speaks for itself.

still no chance getting it from my AD I think

So yes I am salty. I will get it grey market. It looks like a YM40 case. on a Daytona.

Agreed on the metal edge. More so on the PM cerachrome bezel references.

I'd wait to see the real watches first before we can fully comment on the case shape. The animated renders look rushed and badly done. Bracelet thickness is way off. Reflections are poor.

The static images look more representative and a lot closer to the case shape of the outgoing larger cased PM references which could never be accused of being anything but elegant.

And they've fixed the awkward asymmetry of the 500s and 508s

I'm glad I didn't have to wait for newer one, won't worth additional waiting. It's way out of Daytona spirit.

If you scroll down here you can see the new case shape on all their models:

https://www.rolex.com/watches/new-wa...ograph-daytona

It looks very flat, the previous steel Daytona had a very nice curved case, just like the Datejust for example. This new one looks like a Submariner case with the lugs of the precious metal Daytona.

The dial and hands are clearly Zenith, specially on the 2 tone models if you don't pay attention to the position of the subdials it just looks like a vintage Zenith Daytona.

I prefer the older one better, but I have no doubts this will sell like hot cakes.

after 4 pages... let me sum things up for anyone who hasn't read through

Those who currently own a ceramic steel Daytona : Older gen is better !

Those who don't currently own a Ceramic steel Daytona: New one is better !

Those who already own a ceramic steel Daytona, and have access to AD allotments : I'll get this one too!

I think the picture is deceiving, both sides of the case appear to be polished.

surprised by all the hate on the new daytona. I find it infinitely easier to read and like all the changes except i think the bezel is slightly too thin but its a great looking piece by all accounts.

White gold and rose gold models the biggest winners IMO. The bracelet end links now match the case which kept me away. Let’s see what the price will be, I don’t play AD games.

You lost me here. How did they not in the past?

And on the WG and RG we only have 3 dial choices. And one has diamonds

Yellow gold is hands down the winner for dial choices. Such a shame as a RG fanatic the Chocolate dial is gone!!! For now

But I guess my Chocolate 515 is here to stay forever!!!!!!!

End links protrude past the lugs in 11 series.

Never really noticed it but my only PM Daytona is a 523 and 515

Was really really really wanting a "116"505 but I guess those days are over

Thank you for the clarification

On a different note does anyone think that Rolex and Rolex A D's will increase the 500 allocations to make room for 126500's??

We all know that pretty much every A D has a few 500's in the safe just waiting on the right customer. Well maybe now some of us get a call to make room for the 126.

Or am I off my rocker??

I think the white dial old one is nicer but the new one in black is nicer.

I am Fortunate to own both the 16520 and 116500 and tuned Down the option for the 116520 (didn’t like the steel subdials). I see the 126500 as a typical Rolex evolution. I will not be placing my name on the list for this as the differences in reality from the 116500 Are in my eyes, minor. I will be interested to see the bezel ring in real life before I judge or comment.
Hopefully one day, a true panda on a brushed case and bracelet is released ….

Do we think the case size is still 38.6, or is it actually 40mm now. Im hoping it remained the same.

Thoughts team?
