Wearability & Authenticity of 15500.ST.OO Automatic Steel 41mm

Hi guys. I live in NZ with no AP dealers, we have a few grey dealers and this guy seems legit. He advertises on our local version of Ebay called TradeMe, but more importantly has a bricks and mortar store in Auckland.

I'm quite keen on this 2021 AP. How legit does this look and also how would this model wear on a c6.75" wrist? Given no local AD's I've never been able to try.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketpl...ing/4680739941

FYI to make the deal I'd either get rid of my 2023 Rose Olive DD and brand new Rose Cermaic Daytona.

Input very very much appreciated.

I own this watch and have a 7.25 wrist. Not sure if I would have bought it though with a 6.75? Might look too big. Others can chime in. Just got back from Auckland and Queenstown. Lovely country you have! Would love to be able to get bluff oysters in the States!

Having own or owned the pieces you reference, I would NOT do the trade.

I have RG D-D olive dial and RG Daytona, I will never trade for ST RO. ST RO should be an addition to your collection. I have both PM Rolex and 15500OR, I love all of them.

I have 6.6" wrist, I wear 36mm, 37mm, 39mm and 41mm RO, I think 6.75" wrist can wear up to 41mm RO, it depends on your personal preference.

watch wears well if you have a flat wrist for your size. It's big but not out of proportion. Silver dial has the shortest production run for 15500st.

Definitely wouldn't trade the DD rose gold 1 to 1 let alone the DD and the Daytona he's trying to screw you.

Watch will wear just fine on a 6.75 inch wrist, but I wouldn't do this trade.

I'd add I don't need to move on both Rolex's, just one or the other. realised I hadn't explained myself very well.

Still I wouldnt trade

Plus the watxh will wear big. I wish i can get rid of my 41 mm blue. I see the 38mm more fitting for your wrist size. (Chrono)

My other option is a 38mm Chrono. Both are priced similarly;

https://luxurywatch.nz/product/audem...onograph-2023/

and I'd reiterate EITHER my DD or Daytona will cover the cost (not BOTH). Again sorry for the poor explanation earlier.

I’d go smaller like the Chrono shown above. The 41 will wear like a clock on you. If had to pick, would trade Daytona for the 38 Chrono. Would pass on the 41.

38 chrono would be a much better choice and i'd trade the daytona for it. i think that DD is too special to let go and you'll regret it eventually + in your daytona incoming thread you already sounded like you weren't feeling it so just move it for the AP

be careful chrono is thicker. I don't think it wears too well on a 38mm

Do you have a wrist pic (your wrist) of the 15500?

I have a 6.5 inch flat wrist and felt the 41mm was good. The 37mm and 38mm dials felt small on my wrist. If your wrist is more round than the lugs may stick out... Best is to go try them out if you said they have a brick and mortar store.

The 38mm is sub 12mm thick so is even thinner than your Daytona.

Thank you for the input so far.

I did briefly try a 41mm in Sydney and it felt ok. It was a very speedy trial. If it helps, and it probably does not, I had a 38mm Tudor Royal which I sold because it felt too small. That was 38mm x 10.6mm.

I've enclosed a picture of the Daytona and a few Ors if it helps. The Tudor shown here is the 41mm which has a short lug to lug of 47mm.

The downside to living in a country with no AD and being on the South Island when the grey dealers are in the North Island is you can't try before you buy - argh.

the 41mm tudor looks fine on you but i don't know how close it is to the 41mm RO. the 38 chrono will look fine though, imo. it'll basically wear like a daytona considering even the 37mm RO is essentially the same size as a daytona. it depends on the look you're going for but you can probably pull off both sizes

Thanks team. I will probably "stand down" until I can try before I buy. Next time I'm up North or across the ditch in Sydney I will give them a better look.

I suspect both will work, but the 41mm will be "on the margin".

OP, I recommend you looking at the 15510. I have same exact same wrist size as you and own both a 15500 and 15510 and the 15510 wears a little smaller, enough to satisfy similar concerns I had on wearability.

I have the 38mm chrono and I love it. That said, I would absolutely 100% never trade the RG Daytona and RG DD for the AP. I could see trading one and adding cash on top, but trading both is a big mistake.

Do you have any other watches that would remain if you did trade both the above Rolex?

Sorry to be clear the trade involves EITHER the DD or Daytona, not both.

My collection is made up of slate yachtmaster, rootber GMT, Bluesy, rose olive DD, rose black ceramic Daytona, Panerai Luminor and Linde Werdelin.
