You Tube embedding

I know we were allowing YT embeds - i.e., where we could insert yt and /yt inside brackets []

But now it seems to have stopped?
The ability to use BB code is set on a forum-by-forum basis by the administrator, so just checking the forum rules currently.

Already read the salient thread here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...highlight=Tube

But did not see an update.

And the BB code is still in the list at: http://www.rolexforums.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#imgcode

Just wondering if it's now turned off? Recent posts just show a blank space...

Perhaps he couldn't see this either.

I think it's just a matter of filling the "YT" embed with the correct info.

Here's the magic behind Mon's post.

I get how to do the embed - have done dozens of yt embeds with the php code here on TRF

Like the other guy, I can't see the embedded yt's in the posts. Neither Google, Safari nor my iPad now display them, so it isn't just platform. I used to see them but no longer can.

Is there a setting in my forum options that might be blocking it now?

Where is that setting? I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but I looked through UserCP.

I was wondering the same thing. Every time someone posts a video, I can't see it at all. Just a blank spot where it should be

For me, the answer is Yes. Otherwise I would not see any images like pictures.

Inside User CP, look on left frame for Settings & Options, then click Edit Options, then scroll down to Thread Display Options.

That's funny, I came back to this thread and I can now see the video. Did something get changed?

Here's an interesting twist...

Just for giggles, I logged into the http:// URL vs. the https:// URL

The embedded YT's show their image just fine. Using same browser, same user ID...

For me it's a lottery.
Some times videos show other times not.
When they don't show I get a thin pop up bar on the bottom of the screen that says: Only secure content is displayed. If I then click show all content the videos appear.
This all happened at the same time as the time settings screwed up on the forum.

Thanks - it helps to know I'm not the only one staring into blank space...

I've learned to work around the problem - I just hit the "Quote" button, then grab the YT video ID and open a YT window to paste and view.

I'll report this post to Steve to refer it the server staff - just in case a php plug-in has become corrupted.

Something must have been corrupted because the time stamp worked fine before as well.

On mine as well but I have to have it set to CT to reflect that.
If I set it at EST (which it really is) it will be 1 hour off.

Unfortunately YouTube embedding is not secure. So when you are using https the YouTube will not be displayed.

If you see a large gap that indicates a you tube you can simply delete the 's' on the https in the URL window at the top of your web browser and press enter.

This should then display the YouTube video.

I've known about this for quite a while now but there is no known cure to me.

What is useful is if a user is going to embed a YouTube video that they post a link to the YouTube website for the video underneath the embedding.

Excellent Steve thanks for the enlightenment.

BTW, the embedded YT's do show up via Tapatalk fine.
