Coveting 126234

I love my TT 16233, but I'm also coveting the 126234 in full silver (oyster). I would like to keep both but I prefer one DJ in my collection. Oyster definitely gives a sporty look, but TT in jubilee is such an iconic piece.

I would like to hear people's thoughts on this. Cheers!

Coveting 126234

I was faced with this dilemma before. I kept the SS on Oyster - The clothes I wear, my lifestyle, the places I frequent were the deciding factor. When I worked in an office I wore a TT on Jubilee but those days are long gone. I own a proper dress watch for those rare instances when I need something dressy on my wrist.

Stick with what you got. Keep it clean and save the $

TT>steel despite what trends try to lead on

Thanks for sharing! Love that Wimbledon dial! The fluted bezel is so elegant and "dressier". Good point you made there. Lifestyle is such a critical factor! I agree with that!

While I do have the 16700 and 116610, the 16233 is the "dressiest" watch I currently own right now. Decisions... decisions...

Thanks for your insight! You're right. After many years of potentially considering giving up on my 16233, I know I will regret it. It's my first Rolex too. I do own the 16700 and Sub-C, so it's good to keep the collection diverse.

Please do not give up your first Rolex!

YES. Agree with you a thousand times.

There were days when I am tempted to upgrade (such as now... again), but I know I will regret it.

Great shot of the Wimbledon!

For the OP’s question I think the SS option might be more versatile but as a watch collector it’s hard to advocate for selling your first Rolex (if you have any sentimental attachment to it; I’ve been debating selling my JC lately to fund another venture but I feel attached to it being my first Rolex and everything it meant to me when I was finally able to afford it, as well as the story that goes with how I got it).

TT to steel is not an upgrade.

You already have a few watches of different types. Just stick with what you got unless you really want to add something. Wait a year and see if you still want the same watch over everything else and if so, buy one.

Now, we can both relate with the same sentiment. The "first" piece and its "story" is just hard to let go of. Trends don't matter to me anymore.

So true. I prefer keeping a minimal 3-piece collection. My own personal rule is, if I decide to get a new piece, I will have to give up one.

To each of its own. They can make their own rules.

I like both of your choices, one only for me would be the steel. For you OP, I would keep the tutone and add a more modern sreel. I have two colored OPs so I can see two Datejusts.

I personally would stay TT, there’s something classic about TT and differs from everyone having SS ..
YOU know deep down which you prefer though , that’s the important thing ..

Your TT is gorgeous! Don’t trade it, especially if it’s your first watch.
As for the Wimbledon dial, it’s awesome in TT:

I believe you would miss it pretty bad if you prayed with it.

I know you only want 1 really, but I would say get the newer one you like and give it some time and just see how it goes. They may be different enough not to bug you having 2 Datejusts.

126231 and 126234

Never have the same watches been so different.
My wife has both: 126231 and 126234, and loves both for different reasons. The 126234 is really sporty compared to the TT. She will never part with any of them.

Personally Im not a TT fan.
It reminds me of the 80's.
I either want SS or PM not a combo.
The only TT Rolex watches I own are my 1630 and 17013 as TT is what I remember from these models growing up. I can't even think of the last time I've worn either of them to be honest

Definitely keeping the TT. I may add the SS later on.

Yes, TT is iconic. I may just keep both, but TT isn't going anywhere.

I think the 16233 was really the "sweet spot" for 36mm Datejusts. Fluted, TT, jubilee, 36mm... can't beat it in the world of DJs IMO...

I like and would keep the TT DJ you own. No reason to move it along. It has a cool 70's-80's vibe and is a true classic in my opinion. I think that there is room in your collection to add one, even if just temporarily, to your three watch combo. I like the SS DJ on jubilee with the fluted bezel. Dial color, silver or white, maybe blue if you need color. Totally different and a very clean look. It is all about having fun and enjoying yourself and that would be fun to me. Let us know what you decide.

Yes, definitely keeping the TT. I own the 16700 and Sub-C so there are sporty models in the collection. The TT DJ is the most iconic and recognizable piece. My mom's 69173 was the reason why I bought the 16233 in the first place.

Yes, I agree! I think the 5-digit era is the "golden years" for Rolex. :) Wearability as a tool watch and functionality at its best.
