BLNR at Retail
I have a unique situation and opportunity to purchase a BLNR at retail.
I just got the Sub in December so there may be a situation where one is gone after a few months. I love my Sub, but the BLNR always appealed to me and this may be a chance to finally try a GMT and see which one I truly like better. What are everyone’s thoughts on this strategy? Owners of both is the GMT more wearable? I ask because right before I got my Sub I got to try on a GMT side by side with a Sub both on oyster and the GMT felt much more comfortable. If there is one negative of the sub is its heft. Coming from a BB58, without any micro adjustment, the sub is still less comfortable. |

I went through the exact scenario you describe: I had a Sub, was offered and acquired the GMT, and then realized I liked the GMT more, so I sold the Sub...
BLNR is, to me, more useful, while being less ubiquitous. Great watch! |

I would definitely go for the BLNR at MSRP! You cannot go wrong with that. If you pass, I think you'll really regret it. Plus, you will always wonder if that was the piece you would enjoy more than your Sub. Personally, I think they are 2 very different watches (especially if the BLNR is on Jubilee) and keeping both would be the perfect duo. Worse comes to worse and you don't like the BLNR, you can let it go without losing any money at the very least.

At retail. Buy it.
Much harder to get than a sub. You can keep both or sell one. But BLNR at retail is an opportunity. |

I guess I have a fear that the BLNR will trump the Sub and I’ll get rid of it. Totally irrational but something in the back of my mind. |

I’ve owned most of the modern Subs and GMTs and the BLNR is my favorite of the SS ones.

I have both. I wore the Sub yesterday. I’m wearing the GMT today. I’d never get rid of either.
If I were you I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Everyone’s wrists are different. I think the Sub is the most perfect fitting watch I have. But my GMT fits really good, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would love to keep both but my Wife is going to veto that. So it’s gotta be one in one out for the time being.

I have a Sub Bluesy as well as the GMT. I go back and forth which one I like better. Sometimes I go with the Sub and sometimes I’ll pick the GMT. I do like the second time zone functionality so if I had to pick one, probably the GMT. Comfort wise, I think my GMT is more comfortable than my Bluesy Sub. Sits lower.

I have both. GMT over submariner all day. If you get one on jubilee and one on oyster it’s best of both worlds. Or just get both bracelets

I have both and go back and forth. Sub - glide lock clasp (a great Rolex comfort feature) and quick set date but unidirectional bezel. GMT - none of these but to me more interesting looking with useful travel complication and bi-directional bezel for timing. I don't think I'd pass on a GMT at retail since if you don't like it you can likely get another sub with out much difficulty.

Got the Sub and loved it. 5 months later got the GMT BLNR. Sold the Sub shortly there after.

I have this set up as well. The BNR on Jubilee is one of the most comfortable watches I’ve ever worn. The Jubilee also adds a little pop to it. I have to admit, though, my no date sub is the most versatile watch I own. It allows me to do so much. If you can keep both, I’d say do it. Both watches, serve different purposes.

Go for it, I think the GMT is more comfortable for me due to the caseback being flatter. YMMV. Keeping both is the ideal scenario. However “happy wife, happy life” are words to live by!

Tried the sub and got the call for the BLNR on oyster. Take it. Its everything the sub was for me but with a touch of colour and the added function. Get rid of the sub for the GMT and I don't think you will regret it
The bracelet was less bulky and the easy link is actually perfect for me. Also a BB58 owner, transitioning to the GMT was seamless. It definitely fits a touch smaller than the new sub.20231212_153046.jpg Sent from my SM-S916W using Tapatalk |

In many years of owning Rolex I have never had or wanted a Sub. My first GMT in 2017 was a BLNR, sold it after adding a BLRO a year later. I am sold on GMTs now, great GADA watch with a useful travellers complication and a pop of color. Get the BLNR.

That is really a shame as you can have a nice but small collection without having to go out and re buy a Sub again at some point. Talk to you wife about peace of mind and contentment. If that doesn't work maybe we can try to come up with another angle. LOL

I’m confused. Is it that you can’t afford to keep both? That, I totally get. If that’s the case, get the BLNR, and sell the sub. The BLNR is a nicer watch, with some color, and an extra complication. As you already found out, it is also more comfortable. If money is no issue, I fail to see a problem with owning both. Many of us have 2 or more Rolexes, and enjoy the variety.
