Help Trimming Down

Building a dream Rolex collection and I can’t help but see redundancy in my lineup.

I would love the opinions of the experts here who have owned these pieces or have them in their collection currently.

What would you remove?

124060
126610LV

Pepsi
Batman
Rootbeer

Blue/Green DJ 41
Exp 40

I’d keep the green sub and Pepsi!

Batman/Rootbeer, one of the DJs, explorer, LV… is what I would remove and replace with a DD.

Too much steel that is all the same. I'd ditch the DJ, explorer, 124060, rootbeer, and batman.

Said differently, I'd keep the LV and pepsi. I'd add a 4 digit or 5 digit sub and something PM.

Remove or replace the sub no date, batman, and DJ. Need a Daytona.

Spoiled for choice! Agreed about the redundancy. Everyone's taste is different, and it's interesting to see what others would do... But here are my thoughts:

I'd keep the green sub over the classic no-date sub. Green is cool.

Keep two of the 3 GMTs. The CHNR root beer I'd keep if you can pull it off (I love love love this watch but can't pull off two tone personally), and then keep one of the steel GMTs. I'd vote for Pepsi. I know it's two GMTs, but I feel like rose gold two tone, and the classic steel Pepsi are different enough.

I personally like Datejusts, though I'm not as crazy about the explorer I as most people seem to be. Keep one of the DJ's (I'd keep blue if you're gonna hang on to the green sub, just for some contrast, though I personally have a mint green), lose the Explorer.

I think this is the play to be honest

The top 5 all have black dials. I would keep two of those....if it were me, I would keep LV, Batman, Blue DJ, and Exp 40 if it's a white dial. Get rid of Pepsi, Rootbeer, and Sub.

I think the Batman is the most versatile ceramic steel piece Rolex makes.

Even across the Sub and GMT heavy collection I still see a bit of redundancy in terms of similar aesthetic but the colors on the bezels do add variety.

Agreed, I did edit a bit after you quoted me just to clarify my thoughts lol. But aside from the DJ's your collection is very heavily stainless sports watches with one TT in the mix. Like I mentioned I think the CHNR is quite beautiful and different enough to justify two GMTs. One sub is good enough. One DJ is all you need. No need for an Explorer I if you have all these other stainless sports watches

Get rid of the Sub ND, the GMT you wear the least and use those funds/trade for a Daytona.

A Sub LV, 2 GMTs, DJ, Explorer AND a Daytona is a phonemail lineup.

My original thought was to remove the batgirl and or explorer, keeping the sub, LV, rootbeer pepsi and DJ.

This got me thinking that maybe it’s the sub that should go as the batgirl offers a nice splash of color.

Then I circle back thinking that leaves 3 GMTs, 2 of which look very similar where the sub at least has a different visual aesthetic.

Who thought building a collection would be this hard

Sorry if it’s been answered, but what do you mean blue/green? Do you mean you have both? You could definitely get one of those.
Your problem is a good problem to have. As far as problems go.

I thin I’d remove them all and start over with mostly 5 digit watches, no gold

My philosophy is, since life is short, keep and wear your favorites more. If you like the Starbucks more than black sub, every day you wear the black just to keep it in rotation is a day you could have worn your Starbucks and enjoyed it more.

I’d pick your favorite sub and one GMT, I’d keep Starbucks and Pepsi myself. Sell the others and get your favorite steel Daytona.

DJ and DD are in the same family, I’d sell both and explorer to put towards your favorite DD

Leaves you with favorite gmt sub Daytona and DD.

If you’re worried about not having a true beater for bad areas, that’s where G shock and Seiko come into play. Why tie up real money in a watch you’re not really excited to wear

Sell Batman, Rootbeer, and Explorer 40.

Thinking about thinning a few out here myself. But it's always so hard to let go with any Rolex!

Keep Pepsi, LV, DJ.

I did see someone suggest a Daytona and if you weren’t shrinking it, I’d also do that.

I would Keep these 3 - dump the other 4 for one "grail" piece.

126610LV

Batman

Exp 40

Good Luck

In any Rolex only collection it is hard not have some redundancy in the collection where all the watches are metal sport bracelet watches. If trimming just go down to the few you wear the most or are always looking to rotate back to.

I have two of your three: the Submariner and the BLRO.

My reasoning in collecting these two are that (to me) they are really well done , modern interpretations of classic Rolex professional references.

I threw in 321 as my chronograph. If you want to stick with Rolex, the Daytona is a no brainer.

I would keep the Submariner plus a GMT (BLRO or BLNR) on the Jubilee. Add a great chronograph such as a Speedmaster or Daytona.

I would keep one sub, one GMT, and the EXP.

Then I would be looking for some other kind of bracelet, such as an OF Daytona or DD. Good luck,
