GMT 16758 service dial
I have been offered this 83 16758
Can anyone tell from this bad photo Is this a service dial? I would have thought an 83 would have had a nipple dial |

I believe that the early 80s was the time period when they started to switch away from the nipple dials.

Very possibly a service dial. No patina at all on those indices?

The date wheel looks off to me. I would expect silver date wheel but that looks too white and the font on the 7 doesnt match my 1981 16750. Something about the bezel throws me off but I am not sure. I'll leave the rest to the experts, but if the date wheel is service i suppose it's more likely the dial is service also. Also the lume on the seconds hand doesnt match the others. Very likely a "put together" watch.

Based on the minimal amount of information, the date wheel is incorrect as well as the dial.
I would like to see a nipple dial on that model based on what was listed in the first post as well as a yellow date wheel.

As jP and many others said, the dial and second hand look fresh and would have either been fitted by RSC in 17 years of T25 production (end of allowed installation although some Tritinova up to 2006) after it's purchase.
More likely (as RSC dont usually fit just a second hand) it's been cobbled together esp as it doesn't have the champagne datewheel. Also and it might be the photo the second hand and gold surround hr markers look a strange silvery colour ! Beauty in the eye of beholder and all that, but to my eyes it's an unappealing mix of the old and new (and probably the wrong) on the eye.
