Patek does give ADs guidance on type of client to allocate to, but they don't need approval to allocate one. So this makes me think that even if there are less 5740's compared to 5811, the 5811 is harder due to required approval.

I really doubt it about the 5811 needing Geneva approval as even MR go thru HSWA in NYC here in the states but I could be wrong

Just sharing what I was told, which is that approval from Patek is required for 5811G allocation. People that I know that own 5811Gs told me the same.

5811 imo will become the most collectible of the 3 and I find the dial stunning.

slight update
MR application gots to HSWA NYC for initial approval. if approved, then goes to Geneva for final approval

I do not know if 5811G needs Geneva approval as I have noticed that all the one I had that needed genera approval came with my name already type on certificate

5811 was handwritten at AD in front of my eye.
not that I doubt you. I never asked how 5811 was approved.

one of those "my AD said" things, you might be right - I'll let you know if I ever get a MR allocation but I'd say the 5811 is more likley over the next years.

My 5811G came with my name pre-printed if that answers any questions...just adding my data point.
