Just don't buy with the intent to sell:)
Seriously, I flipped a 4 year old Cockpit and only lost a couple hundred. So I can't complain at all.
The two I have now I plan to have till I die.. so I'm good.

I buy to what I like and as a watch to wear, not as an investment. I also buy at a discount (grey or used) to minimize my loss if I do get bored and decide to sell later. However, I go into each purchase eyes wide open.

Here's my Navitimer Olympus. Only needs resetting once every 4 years:

Looking back at your post history , I see you have a strong propensity to bash anything non-Rolex, so your comment doesn't surprise me at all.

I do like the style of the watch , but I have numerous reasons why it fails to meet my expectations, especially relative to Rolex. Perhaps "mediocre" was not the best term to describe the watch but I am just disappointed with my experiences. That involves the reliability and service, mostly. Despite what Bacon Nor states, I do not bash my Breguet.
I had high hopes for the watch but has disappointed me, just like my Mercedes did due to horrendous reliability. Still, I hope they both improve because I like the styling.

I would be interested to hear your tail of woe regarding Brietling. I will admit others have had issues too in the past. I however have been fortunate thus far. So fortunate infact that I had an out of warranty super quartz battery change and service Free of charge by Brietling USA service. Simply the battery died, I sent it in and they hooked me up 100%. I don't imagine many companies doing that.

And no way would I bash a Breuget either, they are magnificent IMHO.

I'm a big fan, if you buy smart at 25% off and more you won't lose much and you get a whole lot of watch for your money.

Agree 100 percent. Love the Trans Ocean and the Blackbird.

The Navitimer is as iconic a watch as a Rolex Sub or an Omega Speedy Pro.

Thinking about another Superocean as a beater if I decide to sell my LV-C and my PAM, which would be ironic as the 41 MM Superocean was my first "nice" watch 15 years ago.

Great watches. Hard to go wrong.

Thanks! We spent several months looking for a his/hers watch pair and found it really challenging to find them. While these are different models from the same brand, the black dials and bezel construction made them "close enough" to qualify.

EXACTLY......simply buy at the right price and you will not get hurt when you try to flip.

I just bought a BNIB Avenger II GMT at 40% off. The local jeweler simply wanted to unload his inventory. It was in his display and has two very small scratches on in inside of the bezel. So small you needed a loop to see them.

At 40% off I simply could not give up the opportunity. Was thinking a DJ II new on TRF at $6k, but this is not too shabby at $2,450 IMHO.

BTW: own two Breitlings. A Cockpit Chronomat and Avenger. And also now own a SubC.

I always recommend breitling to friends looking for watches in the 2-5k range. They have history, great designs, good bracelets. My super avenger has moved on to a new home but my navitimer will be with me until I am dead.

My first decent watch was a titanium aerospace. I wore it every day for 8 years before I sold it. I now own a variety of high end mechanical watches (AP, PP, ALS etc). I still like Breitling. In fact, I purchased a Airwolf Raven just as they were being discontinued. I really loved its function and looks but it was so uncomfortable to wear. I also considered a Chronomat 44mm GMT but again I am concerned about its comfort. I have a small wrist and almost all of the Breitlings wear on the large size and even though i wear a 44mm Panerai and 44mm IWC (super comfortable)-- the fact that Breitling is almost exclusively being made for the large wrist is why I have resisted keeping one in my stable.

I think Breitling gets unfairly bashed but in reality, they make great watches. Now the value debate is legitimate with most brands, but a Navitimer is one of the most iconic chronographs out there.

Thanks Seth. My wife turned 50 this year so I told her she needed a "black" dial watch to mark the Over The Hill status! She thought it was funny and since I didn't get a big present to mark my 50th a few years back, we decided to go the his/hers route for black dial watches.

The problem I have with Breitling has more to do with their servicing. Had two, and each were not very reliable. The thing that bothered me the most was the first I sent for servicing 2 times in a 1 month span, and another time a few years later and each time they stated needs a redial since it was noted to have significant scratches. I don't get how I can have a scratched dial when I sent it in for warranty work just a month after a having a full service/overhaul and paid for a new dial; the case was never opened by anyone except BUSA.

I never had to deal with Breitling service but I've heard similar complaints about Panerai but when I had mine there I had no problems. But I had a Daytona come back from ROC Dallas with misaligned chronograph hands. They fixed it but I had to pay to send it back. But scratches after service are unacceptable in any case
