My 1675 finally arrived

I finally got my 1675 circa 1979 today along with a copy of Major Kjell's new watch book. (Written in Norwegian) but I will get an English one when they are out. I could write a short story on the purchase but here it is, one flaw, cracking lume at 6 o'clock otherwise perfect. I even have the last service papers writen by hand and translated into English, thanks to Kjell. =) maverick

I love the whiteness of the marker and hands. I am not a fan of the yellowy or brownish patina that everyone else seems to love.

Great looking vintage GMT Dennis the lume not a problem could easily be restored,a great picture spoilt slightly by dust etc on Crystal.Your building up a very nice vintage collection.

Love that watch Mav. I agree wtih Roger, I like the white better than the brownish, yellow. It looks like the color of the hands and hr markers match perfectly. That's a beauty. Enjoy it and wear it in good health.

Big congrats Mav!
The 1675 is my favorite. A very undervalued and very comfortable daily wearer.
That one seems in great shape!!
Nice "older brother" to the GMT II.

Well done.

Hey Mav

That's a really nice model. A 27 years old Rolex in pretty good shape for another 100!

Don't know if you are going to wear it or keep it in a box. Let us know.

I agree. Much prefer the white to the patina.

And Mav, you got yourself a great looking piece there. Contratulations.

I agree too. I have seen some pre-V Panerais with the lume totally patinaed to an amber and while it looks interesting, the contrast of bright white on a black dial looks so much better. Further, it means it should still be functional.

I don't see the point in having a watch with unreadable lume. Daren had this issue with his vintage GMT in the middle of last year.

BTW Dennis, nice score (or is that skor).

I'm in the minority then as I disagree! I love the look of cream/ yellowed markers and hands, that have aged evenly - especially on Subs, SDs and GMTs. I doubt if I would ever buy a vintage Rolex that had the markers/hands white as to me, the whole point of getting a vintage watch is that it looks vintage.

Thanks and I am wearing it right now so I guess that answers you question. LOL The lume in the pic looks a little whiter than it really is but they are great. I will post more pics today I hope. =) maverick

Very nice!

I picked up this early 60s gilt dial 1675 over the summer. I was thinking of Ed when I saw the black bezel (although it's probably not original to the watch).

Funny you should ask. It sat on the winder for some time and then I put it on and wore it straight for 3 weeks. I almost forgot just how beautiful it is. =) maverick
