"Why Rolex owners only use Montblanc" thread

http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...use-montblanc/

Yeah, Rolex for watches, Montblanc for pens, blah blah blah - stereotype galore!

The rightmost one is a Lamy 2000 I got from www.pengallery.com, and the 4th right is a Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black I got from www.richardspen.com.

The Lamy 2000 is a classic modern design that is simple and elegant, while the Vanishing Point is a most functional design for writing with fountain pens.

Note that there are a lot of other dealers who sell these pens, just that for the Lamy I found them cheapest in Pen Gallery and I got my VP grinded to a lovely stubbed italic by Richard without waiting for 8 weeks.

BTW, I cannot find the VP matte black in Pilot's Japanese catalog so this look like a special edition for the US market.

Just remember that when you wear a Rolex, there are always people saying "those Rolex wearers blah blah blah"...
I wear my watch with pride. Period.

I got myself a Mont Blanc to "mark" an occasion.

I think it goes rather well with my barked beauty.

Should read "Rolex owners only use Montblanc pens, drive German cars, shoot Leica and wear designer clothes ...".
Then, I don't qualify

Check out Fountain Pen Hospital in New York...they sell over the internet and have an online catalogue!!!

As for MontBlanc pens they make a quality product but I do own fountain pens from companies such as Parker, Conklin, Platinum, Faber-Castell, Pilot and Sheaffer!!!

This is so strange, I do wear a rolex, write with an MB and shoot a Leica, drove a BMW but sold it. :(

Wow! I have a few Rolex watches, keep a Jaguar in the garage and really enjoy the Waterman pens, among others laying on the desk. Different strokes, I guess.

Montblanc is not the most expensive in the pen world, and neither is Rolex in the watch world. but they are the most recognizable due to extremely successful marketing and stellar quality. Those I know who use the "bundle" usually started off with just a rolex, then they thought hey, i wear a rolex now and i can't use the free plastic pens from my banker/insurance agent, so they start searching for a "high end pen" and most sources would direct to Montblanc. Just as if one started looking into the luxury watches, their first purchase is usually a rolex or an Omega. then as they read a lot more on watches opened their eyes in the world of Patek, AP, VC, etc... the very same for the pen world. I think the most important is to find the pen you write well with, then with the looks you fancy. Personally I find most montblancs are poorly balanced, best writing experience are Pelikan but I prefer heavier pens, so I use mostly St Dupont and Michel Perchin
