I’ve been gone awhile

It’s been a few years since I’ve been active and bought a Rolex. I guess I was just tired of the game. I’m sure this has been spoken but sure looks like market has come down. I’m considering buying a new yellow gold blue sub but was curious if ADs are discounting yet? Are they taking a hit once you walk out the door??

Thanks,
John

I think the days of discounts are long gone.

Hi John,

It has cooled down a tiny bit but I have not heard of any AD's discounting.

I remember 7/8 years ago getting 10-20% off. Those were some good times haha but the supply doesn’t seem to be there anymore. At least from my couple local ADs here in Cincinnati

Coulda-woulda-shoulda/hindsight 2020/crystal ball ... If we all had known of the impending luxury watch demand crunch, we all would've had sockdrawers full of Daytonas

Er, no. No discounts mate. Go for a used bluesy. 2018ish should cost sub $14k.

I have the two tone but was leaning towards the 41 all gold this time around. 🤟🏻

Welcome back.

The watch you want is still in strong demand - it's a beauty.

So you're in for a wait, or a visit to a secondary dealer.

The vintage 5-digit YG Subs are down a bit from last 2 years - NIB @ AD is gamified.

ADs are not discounting, if they want to keep their status.

I think it’s a case of they should be discounting but aren’t and won’t - for a lot of reasons. I even asked if a check or wire would save me CC fees and was told that wouldn’t fly.

You'll do much better price wise in the secondary market.

welcome back! discounting will never come back at AD's IMO. I think those days are gone. As others have said, the grey market is your discount for this watch

Welcome back. You can find the YG Submariner you want on demand from our Trusted Sellers. They are at retail or a little lower from what I remember.

Thanks everyone!! I will go secondary then since this makes the most sense. Save on taxes is a huge plus for me.

Good choice..

Assuming it's an incredibly trusted seller, the only real downside is losing the leverage of spend history on future, more in demand models.

To be honest, right now I think that means SS Daytonas, GMTII's, Subs, and Explorer II's. With a few other reference exceptions (CHNR, Blue SkyD), I think everything else can be had with a modest wait.

Will have to be one of the trusted sellers for sure. So many damn scammers out there nowadays.
