Change Bezel and Dial?

I recently bought a datejust but now wish I had bought a different style.

I contacted the store which I bought it from as a possible trade-in for credit back towards a new one.

He generously offered to change the bezel and dial and hands on the watch I have currently.

I hadn't thought of this idea!

Is this common? Has anyone does this before?

Thanks!

I wouldn't say it is commonly done, but many here have done this.

The thing is you must be careful that you are getting authentic parts (if you are using an AD, then not a worry). If you are using a non-Rolex seller, keep in mind that you want to stay within the options that were available for that model in that period.

Two reasons are maintaining intrinsic value and being able to have RSC service the modified watch.

I did not know the bezel on a DataJust could be changed, fluted to smooth or vice versa. Dials, of course; hands, not so much.

Please don't do that to a perfectly fine Rolex.
