Another Cartier Tank
Hi, everyone.
I came across another Cartier Tank piece. Would appreciate your remark and comments about it. The watch comes with service papers and manuals, original strap. The seller claims.he got it from the first owner. Has yet to be replated according to him. Service by his watchmaker last year. Again. Would highly.appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thank you and stay safe all! |

Must de Cartier is utter junk, stay away.
These were not their best quartz movements, and often have to be replaced completely for the newer 690 movement. The case is sterling silver and then gold plated, the silver oxidation can often be seen through the gold plating and the plating wears off easily as it is quite thin. The movement usually has a plastic casing ring (in quartz models), which is not at all that bad by itself, but.... The crown tube is part of that plastic casing ring. Water resistance of any sort is nonexistent. If you want an old Cartier tank, get a Louis Cartier, the rest is just godawful quality. Edit: seeing that it is a mechanical one... The mechical movements are decent and can be serviced properly fortunately, and that one luckily doesn't have the red plastic casing ring, which means it has the updated tube and crown gasket which is still in use and is rather good. Generally I'd still not go for these as the LC is much better finished, but it isn't bad like the cheap 80s quartz must de Cartier. |
