Talk me out of selling

Thinking about selling. Do any of you not bond with your SMP despite liking it on paper?

Rolex fan boy here - used to slate omega until I bought a SMP green, I'd get rid of my Hulk and Pepsi before getting rid of my SMP 300M.

Hope that convinces you mate, lovely watch plus the money you lose it's just not worth it.

All the time. I can't bind with it. I can't get a good comfortable fit on bracelet, nato, rubber or elastic. I wear it a few time a year for a week or two at a time. It's not worth that much so I'm just going to keep it as a back up

Talk me out of selling

I fall into this category. I even enjoy wearing it but it doesn't get picked unless doing serious beach duty (crystal cove Newport etc) where I'd never wear a Rolex.

Have you tried it on the Omega rubber strap? That's how I use it when I do.

In the end I'll never sell it because it's not worth the hassle and they trade so poorly.

As one has owned an SMP since 1998 - how can you not love that watch ???? If being picky I prefer the date at the No 3

Not sure what else you’re wearing but I’d suggest giving the SMP the whole month of Feb

If you considering it then move on and use the funds for something you enjoy more. Life is short no point in making your self like something.

Do you have the rubber strap for it? I much prefer this on the rubber strap. Maybe try that and see if you bond with it.

I'd highly recommend giving it a try on the Omega stainless steel mesh bracelet. It's a game changer.

This is my exact issue. It trades for such a discount that it’s not really worth it to move it. I generally like it more on the rubber strap but even that doesnt really speak to me. It’s almost never selected over my Rolex or Panerai.

If you don’t like it, sell it.
Me, on the other hand, love it, can’t get enough. Love it so much that I bought 3 versions, blue on SS bracelet, white with black bezel on ruber black strap and NTTD.

I like the SMP watches and have owned many over the years. I don't seem to retain them long in my collection as they are easily replaceable/tradable. I am looking forward to an update.

Pretty much this. I put mine on the Omega rubber strap and that gets a bit more wear as such.

I love mine. It gets lot of wrist time despite having some tough competition. In fact, I was admiring it yesterday while wearing it.

It is a big watch though. It wears noticeably bigger than any watch I have. So I’d imagine that could be an issue for some folks.

If you aren't thoroughly enjoying the watch then it's reasonable to consider selling. The good thing is, should you one day regret this, it's far from impossible to get another one. Give it some time and thought before moving forward.

Sold mine. Initially I loved it but over time I just could not STAND the skelleton hands. Not s big fan of the He valve either. Off it went.

If you are not feeling the love, sell it. I doubt your feelings will change over time.

I struggle to like these. I appreciate them for what they are, for sure, but they're a bit too big & the bracelet is a bit janky. The clasp seems way too thick for me, too. Maybe try it on a few different straps before you sell it. It's unfortunate, but you'll take a financial hit when you sell it. If you still love [the idea] of having a Seamaster, maybe try the 39mm Heritage one. The bracelet is much nicer. Or maybe even an Aqua Terra that is a good middle ground between a Datejust & a Seamaster.

The older my eyes get, the more I hate Skeleton hands. Love Omega sword hands though.

Yes I'd sell it, but problem is you won't be able to sell it for anywhere near what you paid, like you said.

These are watches you own for life but not wear very much. Maybe give it to your son or nephew as his first watch. That's probably the best home for it

What.a.collection.

Perfectly balanced, everything has a place. Maybe getting the blue rubber for the SMP will elevate it even more. The BLNR Jubilee is my all time, favourite watch. What’s the favourite watch in your collection?

I sold my gray dial 300M. I didn't miss it per se, but I missed not having the "first luxury watch" I ever bought.

I ended up re- buying the 300m, but in the Tokyo 2020 edition on rubber. I absolutely love it and don't see my self selling unless it's to help subsidize a game changing grail someday.

Thank you very much. That’s sort of like asking who is my favorite child. But seriously, I probably would go with the BLNR because it’s so special. I also never thought I’d ever get the call. I’m still surprised by that.

I like this watch on a rubber strap much better. I have the white dial on black rubber and I love that watch.

I sold the grey, blue, green, and white.
But I loved the 75th so much and its blue that I had to have it.
Gets a lot of my wrist time actually and in the OEM bracelet to boot!

When I put mine on the OEM rubber and deployant, it completely changed the watch for me, became much more wearable.

Don't sell it. I was on the fence after wearing mine only a few weeks, but after that I realized it was extremely comfortable watch especially during the summer. I also realized in my rotation not to go from a small watch to the SMP because it makes it feel bulky.

I just sold my Speedmaster because it wasn't really getting any wrist time with all the competition. My black SMP will be on wrist most of the summer due to the bracelet adjustability, etc.
