Total speculation on my part but I'm assuming Thierry prepping his kids with the cubitus launch. Guessing that's going to be their baby. Need to keep the regular releases a bit boring to keep the focus on the new line.

Sorry as I’m out of the loop. Has this officially been confirmed? The name is comical (sounds like a sort of medical disorder with the “itus”.

Sounds like some average hip hop artist no one’s ever heard of.

The last 5 years at Patek have been creatively bankrupt. The last interesting watch they made was the 5212 and that was in 2019.

Says a lot that the 5212 is my most recently-released Patek.

If there’s no release it will be Cubitus Interruptus for Thierry.

Agree 100% with this. is the 'Cubitus' name actually confirmed? If so, they're really trying to outdo Code 11:59 for comic value.

Yes.

The watch is tonneau shaped, like RM; Cubitus means bent/curved in Latin.

This, although I’m thinking more likely Cubitus Interruptus Maximus

Probably a sporty reincarnation of the 3969.

Cubitus also means to lay down, to rest.

I think what would be smarter is for PP to reserve the Aquanaut line as a first-time watch for clients under 35 years old, available in SS, with reasonable MSRPs (under $30K for 5167a, under $40K for 5164a, under $50K for 5968a).

The goal should be for the brand to use SS sports watches as a "hook" to get younger clientele into the brand and then build them up in their purchase journey towards $100K+ grand comps.

AP does an incredible job of this with their pricing segmentation strategy. Their entry watches are all under $30K (41mm RO, Code 11.59 3-hander, ROO 3-hander). But by the time a client is purchasing their 3rd or 4th watch, it's a $60K+ one.
This comment is
It's exactly what I did in this exact order: 5167A at retail price, 5960/1A at retail price, 5712/1A at retail price and 5270P-014 at retail price.

However, and it was confirmed by PP Paris, this is almost impossible to do nowadays because if you want an Aquanaut/Nautilus you must at least have two or one (if you go straight to grand complication) purchase before even thinking about getting one sport watch. And not to be able to do that again is "not right". Doesn't make any sense in the end.

Honestly it seems like their goal is to ramp up the price point of “entry” pieces and target new customers who are aware of the brand and willing to pay without question regardless of real innovation or quality. Just to have the logo on the watch.
I don’t think they are so concerned about keeping the current collectors or what long term customers feel about recent releases. There will always be new young wealthy customers who are willing to try make a relationship and pay whatever the asking is for whatever piece they do release.
It’s disappointing but for me many of the best watches from Patek have come and gone and are long discontinued. The good news is these watches are stunning, produced in small numbers with greater traditional techniques and many are a steal by comparison.
Happily you also don’t have to deal with all the AD bs we have to tolerate these days!

Yeah, I think they're afraid to release it this month cuz Cartier is gonna release their Tortue, and the latter would make Patek a laughing stock

A few more hours to the W&W opening.

Hopefully I'm the first name on the 5164G waitlist. I have never wanted an Aquanaut so badly. The blue 5980G is so cool.

I would gladly take any of the four blue-themed pateks. The 5980G and 5164G are specially gorgeous. And so is the 5396 and 5330.

Assuming these leaks are real, I am significantly more enthusiastic about this release than last year's.

Indeed, the blue WT with date is nice. Too bad I just got 2 WT last year...

Wow this release is the definition of “uninspired” for me.
