Favourite Watch You've Never Owned

Carrying on from yesterdays 'Best watch you've owned' thread, I thought it may be fun to discuss the best watch you've never owned, or to put it another way, a watch that you've admired from afar, but for whatever reason never got round to buying... or perhaps you're still saving for it

I'll make a start, Vacheron Constantin, Overseas (Blue Dial).

I've also always had a thing for the Rose Gold Yacht-Master 40 on OF, but seeing as the price for both is similar, I think I'd have to go for the Vacheron out of the two.

Have almost bought this one on a number of occasions but the service back up in Oz has been not impressed me.

IWC extended their warranty a while back from two years to a further six years on top of the two, I have used them once yeah a bit sloppy but not horrendous.

Lovely watch that, I am yet to fully explore IWC but the brand interests me and I can see me adding one in time.

Well don’t laugh, but it came up in another thread yesterday (can’t remember which one) …

For me, it’s probably a G-Shock. I’ve always admired them, but never owned one. Go figure.

Indeed they are great, and chosing the right one isn't as easy as it should be. That's why I have 4 of them!

Depending on the size and shape you like, consider narrowing it down to (clockwise from left in the pic) the GW-M5610u, the GW-6900 and the GW-9400. Be sure to get one with Multiband 6 and Tough Solar.

I could leave these three by my office window for 15 - 20 years and they'd probably all still be running and giving atomic time.

As for me, I think my answer is still a meteorite BLRO. I have the Tudor opaline GMT as a “placeholder” of sorts because of the similar color scheme, and it’s a piece I wear a lot. Hoping I can add one someday!

Breitling Navitimer. Black with white sub-dials. That’s the watch that got me started. I saw an ad for one in a magazine (decades ago). But ironically, I never owned one.

I think Navitimers are really cool, especially the model that used a 24hr dial. Do you think you will ever buy one?

Maybe. Problem is that I have a Speedmaster and I’m not sure I want two chronographs. When I found out about the history of the Speedmaster, that sold me and I dropped pursuit of the Navitimer. But maybe someday I’ll have both.

VC Overseas Chronograph, reverse panda. I’ve been on wait list for awhile and I think they have forgotten about me which is probably a good thing.

Navitimers are up there for me too, the 747 version from last year is beautiful.

It's such a great looking piece! I was almost ready to buy and ultimately went with the Hublot Classic Fusion instead. I like it just a TAD better but the Zenith remains on my radar.

I will always lust after the patek 5712 but will never be able to get one. To me that is a true grail for me. I remember seeing the nautilus sitting in windows in Boston at the prudential center and standing there and looking at how cool I thought they were.
Unfortunately times change watch market got crazy and I will never ever be able to see one again lol.

SD4K - I had many opportunities to buy this brand new below MSRP. I still have the e-mails where I ultimately opted to play it safe and get either a GMT or a Sub ...

I still regret not buying that watch new.

Do yourself a favour and delete those emails! As they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing, or not so much in this case...

The SD4K is a cracking watch, wonderful engineering, in a perfectly sized case with all the benefits of a modern 6 digit sport reference. It's not too late to add, although those emails and the prices quoted may be holding you back!

Solid advice! Looking back at those e-mails hurts... Took me a while to buy a Polar for the same reasons... I think it is only a matter of time. Thanks for enabling !!!
