Anybody put an exhibition case back on a Sub or Daytona?
Has anybody swapped out of their original stainless caseback on a Sub or Daytona, for an exhibition caseback?

People have def modded them before. Back when I first joined these forums you used to be able to find the display casebacks in the watch parts section.

I had an exhibition case back on one of my 16710 GMT’s.
I really liked it and still have it, but when it went for service RSC told me I could keep it on but they wouldn’t warranty the watch after service if it was left fitted, so I had the original case back put back on. It did make the watch sit a few mm taller on the wrist, but even despite the non decorated movement, I enjoyed looking through the window and seeing what was going on inside. I remember RSC were quite taken by it as well, said it was a nice one. It looks very OEM when fitted unlike some. Now the warranty on that watch is out I may re-fit it, especially as I’ve since splurged on a 5700 case back removal tool, I can fit it myself. Last time I took it to an independent to get them to swap it out. |

I'm not a fan of the look of Rolex movements (particularly the red teflon gears) so I prefer the factory caseback. Plus I'm sure it voids the warranty and complicates future servicing.

I would definitely have the WR checked to make sure the sealing between the sapphire and case back is good.

All my clear casebacks hold >6 Bar and that is more than enough for me.
Rolex, Seiko, Panerai, Dan Henry and others. The last three I have listed are Factory. Rolex did make a GMT with a clear case back and I am sure there are more to come.
