Huh? Posting delay: 100 seconds?

Anyone else having this problem? Is this new? I've never seen it before.

"The following errors occurred with your submission:
This forum requires that you wait 100 seconds between posts. Please try again in 3 seconds." Annoying.

Yes topic was opened in the open discussion forum, a lot of spam has been happening on the forums lately and this is the what they are using to tone it down. All and all looks like it is working pretty well.

OK thanks - shame it's necessary. Doesn't appear to be working very well from where I'm sitting...

I think it should be longer especially for those with less than 25 posts

Can Pledge Members buy a shorter delay? Maybe a dollar or two a second to offset costs associated with programming the new feature.

Gentlemen,

I am sorry, but I really dislike this new feature. I used to love coming on here and giving some quick and furious feedback to many. This has just reduced my number of posts per day as I have limited time for TRF and am now just doing more reading on threads and less contributing.... I may not have anything important to say, but I believe some (myself included) appreciate more contribution/commentary on this forum rather than less.

It's true, I cannot imagine what a pain it must be to deal with all the spam and you all do a truly superb job of keeping this place running, but there must be another way.

Any thoughts about reducing the wait time from 100 seconds to 30 for instance?

Thank you for your time.

Thomas

That would defeat the purpose of having a post delay. Only a handful of people have spoken up against this so far, and 100 secs is working as intended.

If there was, it would have been done already.

Alright, Adam. Thanks and let's see; maybe I'll warm up to it. Will need to write more thoughtful posts I suppose! Rolf.... Have a good weekend

I had no idea any such measure had been implemented. I just logged in that day and was faced with an unexpected barrier. Clearly, that's the reason I created the thread, because I was genuinely puzzled, which I think can be taken from my original post. If something is functioning as usual every day someone uses it, and then what appears to be a sudden and unannounced significant change occurs, I think it can be granted that that may raise a few questions, be perceived as 'annoying.' Now that I know why, I understand fully, of course, but it can't be expected that people will know without being told. I wasn't 'moaning,' either. It was unexpected, apparently unexplained, and therefore annoying.

If there was/is an announcement thread, explaining this big change, then I missed it, otherwise I would not have asked the question. Please post a link to the announcement, if there is one. If there is not an announcement thread in the 'announcements' section, then may I ask why?

The first response to my post was adequate; it gave me the information I needed, and I thanked the poster for the explanation, and said it was a shame that it was necessary. Which it is.
