Tudors as sports watches even in sports cars

I was recently driving a MG Midget sports car at 65-70 mph when the sleeve inside the steering column came loose (broke as some say) separating from the steering wheel and I lost all steering, hitting the guardrail and totaling the car. I was hurt slightly and taken by ambulance but was proudly wearing a Tudor Black Bay! These are great watches! Photo of the car the insurance company says is totaled with a $12,000 repair estimate:



I do not suggest racing cars as Steve McQueen or jumping out of airplanes as a paratrooper but if you do, these watches are a good choice!

The most important thing is you as a person. Glad that you are fine after the accident. Coming back to watch, Tudor is very durable watch and can take everything.

65-70mph is normal for our interstate and city highways here in the US.
In some areas it can be as high as 80 mph.

It was on Interstate 430 after I went over the Arkansas River. The police report said the Trooper investigatin showed the steering system had a “complete failure.” He marked “no contributing factor” I am an attorney btw.

Glad you´re OK, Robert, that´s the main thing, and that nobody else was hurt! Real shame about your MG. While a student at Oxford in the 1970s I spent a day one summer driving one of these along the leafy lanes around Henley-on-Thames. It belonged to a friend´s mother, and if I remember correctly it had the large engine option. We had tremendous fun! They were incredibly popular in England back in the day. And btw, I´m sure your Tudor didn´t miss a beat…!
