<<< beloved pursuits you took up later in life >>>
I’m really enjoying reading Paul’s thread about pursuits that we no longer pursue
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...=943972&page=3 So, I thought I’d start a thread with the opposite question about what pursuits/ hobbies/ interests, you decided to take up later in life. |

Boating. Moved closer to the coast/beach a few years back and I thought we’d stick to beach going but I joined a boat club (Freedom) and it’s been so much fun. I cannot wait to get back out on the water this year. My wife and I cruise usually around and anchor up here and there, and go to restaurants for breakfast or lunch. It’s been a fun new adventure and expect to buy my own in the next year or two. This is the 21-24’ range and we’re always back before dark. Perhaps when I retire I’ll take up fishing.

Target archery for me, my partner bought me some lessons for a birthday present. Unfortunately it’s like watches a never ending money pit, because there’s always something new to spend your money on.

Cooking.
I started back in my early twenties with basic stuff because I missed home cooked meals and got tired of take out all the time. My mother was a fantastic cook but she passed when I was 15. In the past 10+ years it's become a big passion of mine and brings me a lot of enjoyment. My son is a full time college student and has worked his way up from dishwasher to head chef at a very nice restaurant, so it's rubbed off on him. |

Charles de Gaulle once complained: "How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?"
Since moving to France from the States, I’ve discovered the joys of cheese. I’ve been trying to try them all! I guess that counts as a hobby/pursuit. |

Biking. I used to bike a lot when I was younger but stopped due to having to work. Now that I have a bit more free time, I started riding again on the weekends.

Peeing???
After 15 years of prostate issues, I had a TURP (roto-rooter) and it's freedom. I don't have to plan my day around pit stops.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm considering getting more serious about photography. Taking pictures of landscapes and what not. I bought a used camera and we'll see where it goes.

In the last couple of years, I started building furniture and now have a near complete shop. I can lose hours at a time building something beautiful.
The missus and I recently started doing destination hiking trips (Dolomites, Bavarian Alps, Tour du Mont Blanc) and it has rekindled my interest in plain old regular hiking as well.

Gardening and lawn care. When I was working I never had time for yard work. I used to pay someone to make the yard look nice. I do it all myself now. Vegetable garden, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, and the most perfect drought tolerant Kentucky bluegrass lawn in the area. I used to look at it as useless busy work. Now I find it is a great outlet for my creativity and a healthy way to feel productive.

Baseball. I stopped playing and watching it when I was a teenager, but went back to it five years ago. It’s become one of my favourite things, even more than when I was a kid, up there with enjoying books and music.

I am only 24, so not later in life, but I have been solving jigsaw puzzles recently. Very relaxing. Gives me an opportunity to think.

Good for you! My wife enjoys jigsaw puzzles. I don't have the patience, but I absolutely love LEGOs.

I recently completed the white Porsche 964(?) kit & am working on the McLaren F1 car now. It's quite big. I've been LEGOing since I was quite young & at 36 now, the fun doesn't stop.

I’m only in my upper 30s, but certainly never thought I would like running and jogging, but here we are.
