Not at all. I’d also check out some other brands to gauge if it’s the dress watch style you like or if what you like specific to the Cellini.

Do you like the watch? Then it's not crazy.

I have the Moonphase and definitely recommend it, has a classy, sophisticated and distinctive look, and it's also a little chunky to remind you it's tough, like a Rolex should be. I also have the Explorer 1 39mm - the watches complement each other very nicely.

People say the Moonphase is pricey compared to dress watches from Patek, Lange or JLC. It is admittedly pricey, but it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison when you factor in price with complications from each brand (i.e. date and moonphase).

Take your time, make a well-considered decision, based on what you like now, and what you think you'll like longer term. Cheers.

I love the Rolex Cellini … all of the new releases. The size is perfect, to me. Simple, elegant, classic.
And … a good value as compared to other brands like watches.

Meh, they do nothing to me but at the same time it's because for the money I'd rather have something that doesn't look like "a round watch".

I'd check out JLC - in my opinion its a great brand for a dress watch.

As other's have said, not if you like it. If I ever get a Cellini it would have to have the Moonphase.

I think to call the Cellini buyers a “crowd” might overstate how many people are actually interested. I think a gaggle might be a better indication .

It's a classy and different watch and doesn't look like other Rolexes which is completely ok. Go for it if you like it.

I think other brands do the “dress watch” better as far as looks and also bang for your buck

Think other brands do dress watches better with more variety. More bang for your buck. Rolex seems pretty limited in this department.

If you like it then buy it. I really like the Cellini’s.

I actually ordered one through my AD (Cellini Date in RG with silver dial), but I fear it will never show up. Also, as they couldn’t specify a delivery date, if one at all, I ended up buying a vintage RG Day Date 1803. And in fact, I couldn’t be happier.

The Cellini is a unique watch. It has the durability to be a daily and doubles as a fine dress watch with out being paper thin and overly delicate. It will be way more robust than a Calatrava for instance and as much as I like the JLC offerings, again they are too thin for my taste being dress watch only.

Considering the above, the Cellini sits in a niche by itself making it unique.

Great watches get the Obama moon phase. On a side note, is it pronounced CHEL-Lini or SELL-lini

Since your asking a public forum, yes crazy and not in a good way, when there are so many other options available at this price point. You can get into high horology rather than paying the Rolex name, it's almost lazy to settle for Cellini when there is so much more in the watch world.

15K for a gold Rolex MSRP is pretty reasonable in my view.... I don't know many high horology gold watches in that price range. Also keep in mind that Rolex is a tank, so for a daily reliability Id say you're hard pressed to find better.

I actually really like the Cellini, I think it gets a lot of flack for no real good reason. Yeah the older ones were gaudy messes, but the recent iteration is pure class.

No . I really like the Cellini date but I don’t have many occasions for a dress watch .
