Rolex production expanding?

Some healthy speculation .

I drove past Bienne last week on a Sunday and noticed there’s a new building being completed in the Rolex ‘township’.

Hopefully it means they’re expanding capacity soon.

That’s the new Window display factory so they can produce more elaborate display’s to take your mind off the fact there are no watches for sale

I was told Tudor is currently manufactured in the Rolex buildings. Next year, Tudor will have it’s own building giving Rolex more space. Maybe that’s actually for Tudor? Who knows!

That could be. In that case Rolex capacity could increase by Tudor moving out…

Do you think a new building will help increase the number of workers to produce more watches as well?
Rolex manufacturing procedures requires more qualified workers then to creat more space. That's the "subtitle" what Rolex headquarters explained recently.

Capacity increase seems like the logical answer. Unless it has to do with production process change/localization etc.

If they dont do it, why no increased capacity, they dont care about customers, etc etc
If they do it, there is no increase but something fishy...Tudor moves in, Rolex keep same capacity, no labour.....etc

Supposedly production will increase by about 200K units per year.

More machinery, more like. I suppose they have to train someone to load the machines but I'm sure they thought of that before they started building another movement factory. The sooner it starts churning out watches the better, although many on these boards would probably prefer them to close a building rather than open a new one.

Exactly what I was thinking...... or the factory to recycle the empty boxes they have piled up at the AD's due to no watches to sell....

I can offer my own free time during the weekends and bank holidays to help Rolex churn out more Professional watches for consumers. You are welcome.

Rolex production expanding?

They are also building a new HQ building in NYC replacing the existing quarters. Many have moved to the LIC building for the duration. Demolition first, rebuild following.

Rendering of the design…

That is more logistical than production related but a sign of renewed activity. However the new 25-story, 155,800-square-foot office building is more than double the old 12-story HQ building.

Ground floor will be a RUSA owned boutique.

A new building could just be for marketing and general office operations. Rolex is a huge force now and managing its direction takes a lot of people. Rolex is not in the business to see how much inventory they can move. It’s very possible Rolex will voluntarily cut back production or manage it more closely.

That was in an article I read. I stated "supposedly", not certainly. Relax.

An additional 200K watches won’t put a dent in demand when there are at least a million WIS on this forum trying to decide whether to go AD or grey and consequently half of that number “waiting for the call.”

Yeah, I agree. Demand is so deep right now effect will be minimal. I wonder if Rolex increased their prices by 20-30% if that would make a noticeable difference.

Hey OP or anyone who lives in that location. Cant you look up the building permits on line and see what Rolex is proposing to build. In Canada all this information is open to the public and can be found through the local building permits that has to be authorized by the city.
