Threads like this should be taken down. There are some pretty nasty comments and uncalled for insinuations being made.
It's very doubtful that these posters would dare say what they say in a face to face situation.
Hiding behind a keyboard whilst you vent your malicious comments is cowardly and pretty pathetic.

And that's what makes this thread so much fun. C'mon join in with a snarky comment.

If you think this thread is bizarre, you should read the one about the ultra-rare Date-Just 36. Three year wait, my AD stopped adding people to her list.

I agree. But I can also play devils advocate and argue that what the forum should or shouldn’t be is purely subjective. To others, it is for research... i.e. prices, discounts, gray market inflation, etc. are all part of that process. Not sure I can say their forum experience is any better or worse than what you envision it to be.

Everyone has different watch specifics they focus on, be it popularity, prestige, movement, finishing and so on.

With this being the most recognised watch brand in world we will find that not everyone has the same focus and interest.

Whilst the forum used to be predominantly a one type of owner (pre hype) I think now it reflects far more perspectives and causes a bit of pain. I for one enjoy watching and the interaction with that.

I don't think many people like to read about their watches becoming less valuable, hard to stomach for many I would think and therefore would rather not read these threads or feed the downward trend. I certainly understand and feel for them. That being said many watch enthusiasts priced out by the hot watch bubble of sports models going over MSRP, may be able to buy once the the dust has settled. That is a good thing for the hobby. I think many of the protesters about prices at this time are grey dealers or collectors who have stretched a little too far, and now concerned about falling asset prices.

This forum is either super informative or super cringe inducing. This one gives me the Willies.

It’s disappointing to see threads where some people ignore the philosophy of live and let live.

It’s also especially weird to see it on a medium in which each individual has total control over what content they choose to consume.

I suppose that, much as in real life, a proportion of folk on here are professional miserablists.
