$8-13k for a daily... this market sucks
I'm not going to use the word that starts with an "in" and ends with "vestment"
as I really am not looking to flip. I just dont want to lose my shirt and feel like a schmuck. I have gotten my head around paying above retail (took me awhile....), but come on. $9k for an OP39, shoot me. Is there anything out there on a bracelet that you guys (and girls) really like for the money? I've been though so much: - Fifty Fathoms had me twice. Such an amazing watch, just so heavy and cant afford the titanium - Sub had me a couple times, too. But so common. - I want to like the Milgauss (im a big dork) but just cant. - Speedmaster... LOVE... just so many versions and, unless its a snoopy, i fall asleep - Grand Seiko NEEDS to learn to make a solid bracelet Considering - - Datejust 41 (how can i pay so much above retail....) - New IWC Pilot 43 (Bracelet looks amazing) - JLC Polaris BUT LOOKING FOR A ROLEX. Sorry, venting as i type this. I just want to feel like my money went in well. What is out there that is "well priced"... |

I'm in the same boat. I want a Submariner as a daily but don't want to spend $15,000 on a Sub when I can just buy another day date for that money basically

Consider yourself fortunate not living in Canada. Trust me, your wholesale prices are a blessing.

For that price range under $10k get an IWC Pilot 3881-02 and call it a day for a daily.
I've been eyeing this exact piece and will probably pull the trigger soon. |

My personal experience... I tried to replace the Rolex submariner with another brand/model. However, deep down inside, I knew what I wanted, and the watch was just a replacement for what I really want. Years later, I did not care about the replacement watch. Eventually, I still bought a Rolex submariner. Don't fool yourself. You won't be happy.

BUT LOOKING FOR A ROLEX.
You have already said you won’t pay the prices needed to get one today. But you still want a Rolex? Why do you inflict such pain on yourself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Aqua Terra x2
Or Polaris. I saw one at an AD and loved the look. |

I've had a Milguass, Sub and Explorer all in my basked on Crown and Caliber... just feel like none of them are special enough for the price. Does that make sense?

Have you seen the new speedy and it’s impressive new bracelet? It’s worth a look in that price range.

5 digit Explorer 2s, black or white. Great watches and relatively reasonable.

At least in my experience...if you want a Rolex, then you want a Rolex, and anything else is still going to leave you wanting a Rolex.

To the OP, I also say AT. Or an Explorer 1/2, maybe an OP41 (other than the colourful versions which are impossible to get). I feel your pain though. For the price range, and even in the grey market, I personally feel Rolex is incredibly difficult to beat. Each time I try to look for good alternatives I always circle back to Rolex. Unless you're willing to jump up in brands or move to independants, both of which will cost a damn sight more, I struggle to see where the direct competition is for good steel bracelet watches. |

I have the previous Speedmaster Pro Hesalite and it gets regular use. I recently tried on the new version and it’s a great evolution although not enough for me to “upgrade” my current one. I’m a longtime watch buyer and was kind of late to the Speedy but can’t see myself without one now.

116710LN Ceramic GMT Black discontinued. Market prices aren't too crazy right now. But I only see them going up.

5 digit is a great shout and opens the door to a wide world of options including a GMT (condition might not be the best for the budget), Explorer 1 & 2, and a whole host of Submariner options. 14060m prices are currently going crazy - more so than the 16610. A late run 16610 would be a fantastic choice for a daily. |

I hear you man. It’s madness you have to spend a fortune to get anything these days. For perspective 6 years ago I paid 13500 on my Amex for a new 15400ST out of the case in NYC.
Today 13k I’m looking at 124060 14060 Exp II black I find it hard to believe you can’t score a ti FF at this budget. I use to get those 25% off all day. Is that over with? I have the BP43. It’s really nice and runs like a top. Size definitely still justifies the name imho even on my 7” wrist it uses all the real estate. I tend to prefer my navitimer though so I’ll probably move it on.
