Rolex 2135 date change

Good afternoon, I recently purchased a lady’s president for my wife and noted that the date with change both ways when the crown is pulled out to the number 1 position. I contacted the dealer and was told that since it’s a 1989 that this is standard operation for this early 2135 movement. Can someone confirm the validity of that?

thank you
Ryan

Date Change

I explained this with my 2017 Explorer II Question. I damaged a gear by rotating the date backwards CCW requiring complete service/repair. I was told by the Rolex tech that this should never be done with the newer Rolexes and to always advance the date when changing. However with older Rolexes such as yours, the date change could be done in either direction without damage.

I had a 1985 GMT II and was able to change date in either direction with no problems.
