RSC NYC current turn-around time ?

Just picked up a BNIB SSYMII. About one month into ownership, the power reserve was 12 hours maximum after a full (50 turns) hand winding. The watch would wind and run, but would stop after less than 12 hours, whether worn or not. First Rolex in 30 years of owning many that had to go back to a RSC under warranty.

Anyway, my local AD (Mayors) insisted it be sent to NYC despite my requesting Dallas. I expected to be told 4-6 weeks, which I can deal with.

I was told more like 3-4 months! Not a happy camper right now. Has anyone here had recent experience with repair time at RSC in NYC? I suspect that they may be giving me a "worst case scenario" but would love some feedback. Also, any truth that they give priority to warranty work?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I don't have any legit insights or know off hand what the normal wait time is. But considering how sour things are right now with part shortages, labor shortages, toilet paper shortages, yabadadoo, 3- to 4-months sounds like the new normal to me.

It’s the NYC metropolitan area… so, as a result of ______, a certain percentage of staff decided to retire early, and some others decided to relocate.

It used to be about 5 weeks, so 9 isn't too bad in a covid world.

I have had NY RSC service 2 different rolexes this year , each time they told me 8 weeks but I have gotten them both back in less than that. One I got back in 2.5 weeks and the other 5 weeks.

Have a Tudor at RSC Dallas and timing as follows:
-Wait from arrival to estimate: 4 weeks
- Was told 4-6 weeks after approval of job to replace sapphire, crystal and hands
- After 4 weeks of the job approval was called and told will be another 4-6 weeks more as have to order a part from Geneve (something apparently they realized after 4 weeks, so likely when the watchmaker was going to begin working with my watch! They could had order that upon appeoval of job 4 weeks ago!!

I'm figuring not less than two months hopefully not more than three.

One SA at Mayors said 4-6 weeks. Another (same location) said 3-4 months.

I guess I will split it down the middle and keep my fingers crossed. It is what it is.

- Dropped off at AD on July 29 for movement service at NYSC

- September 17, notified of warranty coverage - told to expect 4 weeks to receive watch

- October 5 - notified watch was ready to be picked up.

So, if my math is correct, not quite 10 weeks.

I was in the RSC a little over a month ago for a link and they quoted someone else there 8-12 weeks for a service. Couldn’t guarantee sooner or later. Sounded a lot like an AD regarding when they might have a watch lol

I dropped off my SD43 last Thursday for a trip to Houston RSC and was told it's likely not going to be back until next year. That was surprising. If NYC RSC is 8-ish weeks you're much better off than sending to Dallas. Hopefully they were being super conservative and it'll be much faster.

seems accurate, normally NYC takes care of new goods and warranty issues that would require a higher ranking watchmaker. This is also a YMII so it is only a few watchmakers that are allowed to work on these. as far as timeframe sounds accurate also since parts are taking longer to and the work keeps pilling up. I had my 16610 serviced recently and had to wait 14 weeks, and this would be a more common movement so parts should be easier but they are backed up.

Lead times are increasing worldwide. Ours is also in the 8+ week range. Just a metric F ton of work coming in since the summer.

I shipped my GMT to NYC RSC on September 7th via USPS. It arrived on 9/16. I received my estimate today for the work and quickly ok’d it. No timeline given for the repair itself, but the estimate took about 4-1/2 weeks after receipt.

took me about 7.5 weeks as from dropoff to pickup and this was in june of 2021.

Seems like a global problem.

One of my Tudors failed 10 days after I'd purchased it new.

It finally came back from the UK RSC yesterday after 13 weeks.
They don't seem to prioritise warranty work, even on brand new watches.

Things are a little screwy right now in NYC in terms of the labor market and filling openings/maintaining full employment/equilibrium. I'm not surprised one bit that it would also impact the high skill technician positions. Try the RSC in Dallas just for a reference and see if you may be able to get better turnaround there until things normalize in NYC. If not there then the watchmaking school in Lititz. Send it from a different AD if Mayors is being unreasonable in your request.

NYSE delays

I dropped off a sea dweller on august 23 to the NYC RSC and was told it would be six to eight weeks. I still don’t have it back and was told a month ago it might not be ready until early January. Something has happened and their estimates kept increasing.
